Fairly OddParents Live-Action Reboot Gets Summer Filming Date

Paramount+'s live-action reboot of The Fairly Oddparents will start filming this summer.

According to Discussing Filmthe series will begin production in June. Plot details are scarce, but the show is expected to follow the story of the cartoon that aired on Nickelodeon from 2001 to 2017, in which 10-year-old Timmy Turner is assigned two fairy godparents named Cosmo and Wanda to help him navigate the trials of growing up. However, the reboot is expected to add new characters and change the stories behind some of the original heroes.

Christopher J. Nowak will serve as showrunner, while Butch Hartman, the creator of the original animated Fairly OddParents, and Fred Siebert executive produce.

The Fairly Oddparents is one of many classic Nickelodeon cartoons being reworked for the streaming service Paramount+. Dora the Explorer is also getting a live-action reboot, while Rugrats is being revived through CGI animation. iCarly is also getting revived for the streamer, with cast members Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, and Jerry Trainor reprising their roles from the original series.

This will not be the first time The Fairly Oddparents have ventured into live action. Three movies starring Drake Bell and Daniella Monet aired between 2011 and 2014 on Nickelodeon.
