The Walking Dead's Clementine Comic Debuts Its First Artwork

Skybound Entertainment has shared the first official look at the comic book debut of Clementine, star of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead.

Last summer, Skybound and Image Comics published Negan Lives, a one-shot follow-up to the original Walking Dead comic book series starring Negan. At the end of the issue, Walking Dead writer and co-creator Robert Kirkman teased another follow-up, writing, "Clementine lives" in a letter to the readers. In April of this year, it was announced that Clementine would be making her first comic book appearance in Skybound's new weekly series Skybound X, which is slated to launch on July 7. In the new preview pages shared by Skybound, Clementine is missing her left leg following its amputation at the end of Telltale's The Walking Dead, and still appears to be in charge of Ericson's Boarding School.

Clementine was a major character throughout Telltale's episodic Walking Dead video game, serving as the deuteragonist of Seasons 1 and 3, as well as the main protagonist of Seasons 2 and 4. Players first meet Clementine when she finds herself in the care of ex-convict Lee Everett at the age of 8. Clementine was 16 years old by the beginning of the game's fourth and final season, and was last seen in its final episode, "Take Us Back," which arrived in March of 2019.

In addition to this sneak peek at Clementine's comic book debut, Skybound has shared new covers from Skybound X, including "the main cover to Skybound X #2 spotlighting 'Rick Grimes 2000' by Cliff Rathburn; the main cover to Skybound X #4 by Charlie Adlard featuring the Rick Grimes vs Negan battle you never expected; and the Skybound X #5 variant by Chris Schweizer bringing fans a behind-the-scenes look at The Six Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton!"
