10 Marvel Vigilantes Who Are More Terrifying Than The Punisher

When it comes to the world of Marvel Comics, many fans think that one of the scariest characters to ever encounter is the insane and trigger happy vigilante Frank Castle, otherwise known as The Punisher. This belief isn't random, as The Punisher has done some of the darkest things in Marvel and stops at nothing to finish a mission despite only being a normal human.

However, The Punisher definitely isn't at the top of the pecking order in the Marvel Universe, let alone that of the vigilante pole. In fact, there are quite a few vigilantes in the pages of Marvel that would give any common crook a run for their money in frightening ways Castle could never.

10 Robbie Reyes

A flaming skull man that drives a car and reaps the souls of the evil. Robbie Reyes is the newest inheritor of the Spirit of Vengence, transforming him into the Ghost Rider.

Robbie is a man that no one wants to cross. While he may be new to the whole Ghost Rider gig, that doesn't make his awesome power anymore easy to handle. Not to mention he is a man with a flaming skull and a literal burning hot ride.

9 Johnny Blaze

Who could be even scarier than the previously discussed flaming skull man than the original flaming skull man? Johnny Blaze was the first Ghost Rider that debuted within the pages of Marvel Comics and has gained a soft spot in the hearts of fans and readers everywhere.

That soft spot doesn't extend to criminals however, as Ghost Rider makes it his mission to protect the innocent and deliver his own special brand of horrific justice on those stained with their blood, both literally and figuratively, with his patented Penance Stare.

8 Otto Octavius

Most recognize Otto Octavius as a villain, as his original gig in Marvel was as one of Spider-Man's most iconic enemies, Doctor Octopus. However, the good doctor has enjoyed some time as a vigilante when he and Peter Parker switched bodies, transforming him into a new Spider-Man in his series, Superior Spider-Man.

This new Spider-Man was a lot darker than the original and more akin to a more brutal Batman instead. With eyes everywhere and no mercy for criminals, no one would dare try to step against this Spidey without being prepared.

7 Deadpool

Another quite brutal character that has enjoyed some time as a vigilante comes from the 'Merc With The Mouth' himself.

Deadpool being a vigilante is something many fans wouldn't expect and no criminal would want to run into. While his abilities and arsenal aren't too different than Punisher's, Deadpool has three extra tricks. He never shuts up, he can't die, and he's even more unpredictable.

6 Peter Parker

When it comes to Marvel, even the brightest heroes can be the scariest vigilantes. Take Spider-Man for instance, a super-powered man with all the powers of everyone's favorite arachnids.

Throw in the fact that Spidey's face is a mystery to most criminals and that he's had more than his fair share of times he's lost his temper and there's a horrific hero to run into.

5 The Thing

For The Thing, the vigilante fear factor didn't come at a choice and even once was absolutely hated by him.

After years passed, Ben Grimm began to accept his new self and despite being the nicest guy around, he doesn't mind the fear that his new look, armor, and extra strength brings for bad guys.

4 Wolverine

Wolverine has also had some shine as a vigilante and was one of the most fearsome men on the streets. Logan's powers make him into one man no one wants to run into on a bad day.

Not only is it impossible for a normal man to really put him down, but he's a man that will put his claws into someone if he has to or even just wants to.

3 Eddie Brock

For those that have read the series Venom: Lethal Defender, Venom's place as a horrific vigilante is a no brainer.

Eddie has been through a lot of different personalities during his time in comics but no matter if he's his late '80s-early '90s goofy self or late '90s edgier self no one would want to run into a monster. Let alone a monster that's threatening to eat your brains.

2 Flash Thompson

Flash Thompson's new look as Venom brought about a new age of vigilantism for the classic symbiotic character, yet he was all the more terrifying.

Not only does he already have the symbiote abilities but this Venom comes equipped with guns. No villain would be a fan of running into this.

1 Richard Rider

Richard Rider's earliest appearance in comics showcased his first days as Nova as a hot-headed vigilante on earth.

Nova was a teen with issues that had the power to fly at super speeds, fire beams, and utilize super strength. Sounds two times scarier than Frank Castle even on his worst day.
