Dark Horse Comics will publish the official sequel to The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension in August.
Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League, et al: A Compendium of Evils! is a 544-page hardcover prose novel, described as being told to the Reno Kid by E.M. Rauch. Rauch wrote the screenplay for The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension, and wrote the novelization for the film as well.
The synopsis for the novel teases Buckaroo Banzai fighting his immortal nemesis Hanoi Xan, who serves as the leader against the World Crime League. Banzai must also contend with the warrior queen of Planet 10, John Emdall, as well as her Lectroid legions who invade Earth. Banzai is joined by the members of his band, the Hong Kong Cavaliers.
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension was first released in 1984, and featured Peter Weller in the titular role as well as Jeff Goldblum and Christopher Lloyd in supporting roles. Although the film received mixed reviews and low box office receipts, it has garnered a cult following over the years. Several attempts have been made to continue the adventures of Banzai in television, including an attempt by Kevin Smith in May 2016.
Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League will be available to purchase on Aug. 10, 2021 from Dark Horse Comics.
