Daisy Ridley, James McAvoy Join Great Celebrity Bake Off | CBR

Daisy Ridley and James McAvoy will appear in the latest season of The Great British Bake Off's celebrity edition.

British broadcaster Channel 4 has announced the lineup of the new season of The Great Celebrity Bake Off, sometimes called The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off. As the name implies, the celebrity edition raises money for the charity Stand Up To Cancer. In place of aspiring amateur bakers, the show features various actors, athletes and entertainers trying their best in the tent. The upcoming season will feature five episodes and air in the U.K. this spring.

The other competitors include athlete Dame Kelly Holmes, comedian John Bishop, TV host Stacey Dooley, comedian Tom Allen, comedian David Baddiel, Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall, YouTuber KSI, Paralympian Ade Adepitan, author Philippa Perry, broadcaster Nick Grimshaw, comedian Rob Beckett, singer Alexandra Burke, TV host Anneka Rice, actor Reece Shearsmith, musician Dizzee Rascal, musician Anne-Marie, singer Nadine Coyle and comedian Katherine Ryan.

The series, known as The Great British Baking Show in the U.S., has run for over 10 years in the U.K. Many of the recent seasons air in the States through Netflix, and the show has become a considerable hit stateside as a result. There's no word yet on when or if the new season will come to Netflix, as previous seasons of the celebrity edition of the show aren't on the streamer in the U.S.

The most recent main season of the show was filmed during lockdown, with the competitors and crew moving into a quarantined space set up specifically for the show. More recently, the latest season of the holiday version of the show, which sees past competitors return, aired in the U.K. and on Netflix, having been shot just months before the pandemic hit.

Best known for playing Rey in the new Star Wars trilogy, Daisy Ridley will next appear in the long-delayed Chaos Walking opposite Spider-Man star Tom Holland. The first trailer for the film came out last November, and it's expected to hit theaters sometime this year.

James McAvoy, meanwhile, is most recognizable from playing the young Charles Xavier in the X-Men films. McAvoy voices Morpheus in the audio adaptation of The Sandman that arrived last summer. Audible recently extended the series for two more seasons, which McAvoy will presumably return for.
