Legacies' highly anticipated musical and The Vampire Diaries-themed episode is weeks away from its long-awaited debut on The CW. After being delayed an entire season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Salvatore School will be singing Elena's tales on Feb. 4.
In celebration of the upcoming musical, which Legacies showrunner Brett Matthews called "hugely emotional," The CW released additional photos from "Salvatore: The Musical!"
Days earlier, The CW released its first photos from "Salvatore: The Musical!", which confirmed which roles Legacies' cast will play. Josie will star as Elena Gilbert, with Jed as Stefan Salvatore and Kaleb portraying Damon Salvatore. Lizzie will be taking on the role of their mother, Caroline Forbes. The network also shared its synopsis, which hinted that the musical production stirs up unresolved feelings that Hope has towards her dead mother and father, characters featured within both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.
Showrunner Brett Matthews said Legacies' musical episode "holds this very special place in [his] heart." He added, "To go back and to revisit that world and those characters, that whole episode really is a love letter [to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals] brought to life by writer Thomas Brandon."
Originally, the series' musical episode was set to debut as the 19th episode of Season 2. Show creator Julie Plec spoke of its delay and enthusiasm for its release, noting, "If we don't eventually complete and air the musical episode I will (metaphorically, not literally) die."
The official synopsis for Legacies' Season 3, Episode 3, reads,
