Samuel L. Jackson Dons Avengers Mask to Get COVID-19 Vaccine

Samuel L. Jackson posted photos of himself in an Avengers-themed mask while waiting in line to receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe actor posted the photos on Instagram on Jan. 24, along with the caption, "At The Forum getting that 1st jab!!" The first photo captured Jackson leaning out of his car and taking a photo of the line he was waiting in outside of The Forum in Los Angeles. The second photo was a selfie of the actor in his car wearing a mask, which featured animated depictions of Nick Fury, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk.

The Forum is one of several public locations in California turned into vaccination sites. Disneyland will be one of these five "Super Point-of-Dispensing" sites. Disneyland's site is currently distributing vaccines to eligible recipients who've scheduled appointments through their employer. Currently, the Disneyland site is not accepting walk-ups.

Jackson has portrayed S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury in the MCU since 2008's Iron Man. The BAFTA-winning actor has appeared in 11 MCU films to date. Jackson last appeared as Nick Fury in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, the Spidey-focused film also revealed that the Nick Fury who appeared was shapeshifter Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), who first appeared in Captain Marvel. A Far From Home post-credits scene explained that the real Fury was trapped on a Skrull-controlled spaceship.

In September 2020, Disney and Marvel Studios announced that Jackson will reprise his role as Fury in Disney+'s upcoming Nick Fury series. The S.H.I.E.L.D. director centered story will be written and executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet. Nick Fury joins other MCU series on Disney+, including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight. The series will premiere on Disney+ at an unspecified date in the future.

The 72-year-old actor joined a list of celebrities aged 65 and over who have recently gotten the vaccine, including Steve Martin, Martha Stewart, Joan Collins and Ian McKellan. At the time 81-year-old McKellan received his vaccine, the Lord of the Rings and X-Men actor told reporters, "I am feeling so happy and relieved and optimistic and everything that I haven't been really feeling for a long time now. I couldn't be happier."
