Ahsoka Tano has grown to be a big icon in Star Wars ever since her controversial first appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. However, through Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Mandalorian, this young Padawan gew into a mighty, mature Jedi, being one of the last to survive past the Jedi Purge. However, when Ahsoka reappeared in Star Wars Rebels, fans quickly noticed that Ahsoka had traded her green saber and lightsaber shoto for a new set of white lightsabers.
The reason why Ahsoka lost her old lightsabers and gained new ones was explained in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the YA novel Ahsoka by E. K. Johnston. However, in both cases, the story proved a dark, melancholic tale that put Ahsoka dangerously close to the Dark Side that had overtaken the galaxy.
Ahsoka initially had her lightsabers taken away from her after Barriss Offee bombed the Jedi Temple. When Ahsoka went to interrogate one of the people involved in the bombing, Offee Force choked the witness, but the Jedi falsely believed it was Ahsoka who did. Eventually, the truth came out and Ahsoka was found to be innocent. Anakin returned Ahsoka's sabers after tinkering with them a little, but Ahsoka left the Order after that.
When Order 66 transpired, Ahsoka was able to survive due to being away from the rest of the Jedi. She had to fake her death, so she left her lightsabers in the wreckage of a collapsed Star Destroyer. Darth Vader would eventually find the lightsabers amongst the debris.
Ahsoka was still one of the Empire's priority targets before the lightsabers were found, which meant that the Inquisitors were hot on her trail. The Inquisitors were a league of Dark Side Force users selected by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi who survived Order 66. Tano went into hiding in the Outer Rim on the moon Raada while taking trips to other planets.
Her activity on Raada drew the attention of both the Inquisitor called Sixth Brother and Senator Organa, the leader of the Rebellion. Thankfully, though Ahsoka knew the Sixth Brother was nearby, Senator Organa picked Ahsoka up first on the Tantive IV (Ramus Antilles's ship seen in the opening of A New Hope). Organa successfully brought Ahsoka into the fold, starting by convincing her the people she had grown close to on Raada were threatened by the Sixth Brother. So Ahsoka resolved to defeat him.
Despite Ahsoka being unarmed, she remained an incredibly powerful Jedi. She considered retrieving her as-of-yet undiscovered lightsabers, only to feel the crystals inside the Sixth Brother's sabers calling out to her. Ahsoka arrived to find the Sixth Brother had ravaged the farms on Raada, killing countless people she knew.
The Sixth Brother wielded a double-sided, spinning lightsaber, one that many Inquisitors used. Ahsoka was entirely unarmed, so she ultimately used the Force to kill the Sixth Brother. She went right up to the enemy's face after throwing him off-balance, overloaded the lightsaber, and stepped back as the whole thing exploded in the Inquisitor's face, killing the Sixth Brother instantly.
Ahsoka took the Sixth Brother's lightsaber and reconstructed it, purifying the two Kyber Crystals with the Force. From there, she had two new lightsabers, each pure white. She used the lightsabers to free the prisoners the Sixth Brother and his Stormtroopers had taken on Raada. While she was no Jedi, she had used her powers to reclaim a degree of power for herself, taking her first steps into a larger world.
Ultimately, Ahsoka gained her lightsabers from the Dark Side. However, that despite the kyber crystals' corrupted nature, Ahsoka's inner light managed to purify the darkness. This proves that Ahsoka is an incredible Force user, since she was able to wield undeniably the purest lightsabers in the saga.
