These heroes can manipulate time, slice through magic, and consume their enemies in darkness. They're immensely gifted but not all of them act as the typical good guy. Many have dark pasts, desired revenge, and made questionable moral decisions. Often there is a fine line between good and evil with some heroes walking carefully along that line. It does make viewers wonder what some would be like as villains. Could they be stopped?

10 Mereoleona Vermillion Possesses Overwhelming Power & Dislikes The Clover Kingdom

Whether friend or foe, Mereoleona's power frightens everyone. The royal is a fan-favorite, dominating every fight she's in using her powerful mana and overwhelming physical strength. She has effortlessly defeated every opponent, and the Crimson Lion even frightens her fellow Magic Knights Captains. Mereoleona has all the characteristics of a perfect villain. Overwhelming power? Check. A distaste for authority and a short temper? Check and check. The truth is, Mereoleona never liked the Clover Kingdom or the Magic Knights. It wouldn't be surprising to see her turn against her comrades. And there might not be anyone who could stop her.

9 Yami Sukehiro Has Dark Magic & Shows No Respect For Authority

The Black Bull's captain would have made the perfect villain. He possesses dark magic, a rare magic type that is effective against demons. His muscles have muscles and his presence intimidates others. He shows no respect for authority and is widely disliked by royalty and nobles due to being an outsider.

Yami had all the tools to turn to the dark side. But what makes Yami so compelling is his kindness. He recruits fellow outsiders into the black bulls and doesn't care who they are or where they're from, as long as they respect others and treat them well. If it wasn't for his big heart, Yami would have been a formidable enemy.

8 Vanessa Enoteca Can Manipulate Fate Itself & Be A Destructive Force

It was always unlikely for Vanessa to end up as a Magic Knight considering her background. Vanessa is a witch, born in the Witches' Forest and was a favorite of the Witch Queen. The Witches Forest is an independent country, full of witches who despise outsiders. Vanessa had no reason to be loyal to the Clover Kingdom and possesses incredible abilities that would make her a destructive force. With the ability to manipulate fate itself, Vanessa could become unbeatable. But isolated from the world by the Witch Queen, she ended up being saved (accidentally) by Yami Sukehiro and pledged her loyalty to him.

7 Gordon Agrippa Has An Ominous Appearance & Dangerous Curse Magic

Physically, the Knight looks terrifying. Pale skin emphasized by his black lips and eyes, Gordon looks like something from a nightmare. His magic type is curse magic, and he spent most of his childhood alone due to his appearance and dangerous magic type. All that's missing is a coffin for Gordon to sleep in. Everything about Gordon screams evil, apart from his personality. In truth, Gordon is a kind, selfless and gentle individual who loves and believes in his friends. The Black Bull tells viewers never to judge a book by its cover.

6 Jack The Ripper Just Enjoys Slicing Things Up

Fans of the show still don't know what to make of this guy. Sure, he's a Magic Knights Captain, but he's also someone whose only interest is slicing things up, including people. Jack's magic allows him to cut through anything, an ability designed for killing. His personality seems one-dimensional, if it can be sliced, then he wants to slice it. Very little is known of Jack's past and he treats his subordinates with little respect. However, he seems to be respected by his peers and helped defend the Kingdom against the Elves. Jack would make an excellent villain, but for now, he's neutral chaos.

5 Julius Novachrono Could Use His Time Manipulation For Evil

With his ability to manipulate and control time, the Wizard King is extremely overpowered. When first introduced, Julius effortlessly defeated powerful mages and demonstrated that he was far above even the Magic Knights Captains.  Sporting a cheery yet unsettling disposition, Julius' personality and power would have made him a compelling villain. But who would have stopped him? It was clear from the beginning that Julius was on the side of good because he was the balance between the two competing forces. If Julius turned villain, there would likely be no more Clover Kingdom.

4 Luck Voltia Has A Terrifying Smile & Extraordinary Mana

A member of the Black Bulls and an energetic young man, Luck is only interested in one thing--fighting. The Magic Knight had a difficult childhood. Unable to stop smiling regardless of the situation, his mother disliked him because of this. When she passed away, Luck was left to take care of himself.

Throughout the show, Luck continually challenges others to fights, including members of his own team. He is seemingly fearless, refusing to back down against any opponent and wearing a smile in the process. Blessed with extraordinary mana, a tough childhood, and a terrifying smile, Luck would have made the ideal villain.

3 The Witch Queen Attempted To Kill The Black Bulls & Controlled Asta With Blood Magic

Fans of the show might argue that the Witch Queen is already a villain. After all, she did attempt to kill members of the Black Bulls and controlled Asta using her blood magic. However, despite her overwhelming power and the small army she commands, the Witch Queen shows no ambition to make herself an enemy. Despite being 500-year-olds, possessing ancient magic and mana levels that exceed all humans, she seems content in her forest. The Witch Queen doesn't desire power, and instead, she enjoys watching the world and learning from it. A neutral whose true ambitions are unclear.

2 Asta Uses The Power Of An Actual Devil

Using the powers of an actual devil, how could Asta be anything but a villain? From a young age, the main protagonist was ridiculed by many due to possessing no magic whatsoever. His grimoire (which just oozes evil) contains the soul of a devil and grants him the ability to manifest two swords as well as granting him access to some of the demon's power. With this ability and a vendetta against the masses, Asta could have been used to cause chaos. But despite all of this, Asta never allowed himself to be consumed by hate. When people ridiculed or laughed at him, he used this as motivation towards his dream of becoming the Wizard King.

1 Zora Ideale's Scary Look, Unique Abilities, & Keen Intellect Would Make For A Good Villain

For a portion of the anime, Zora walks a fine line between hero and villain. When fans are first introduced to the Black Bull, he attacks a pair of magic knights and steals one of their identities. From then on, Zora causes mayhem, using Asta as bait during the Royal Knights exam and making enemies with anyone he talked to. He possesses trap magic, a rarity amongst humans that allows Zora to defeat those with superior magical abilities. His keen intellect, unique abilities, and scary look could have been used to make Zora a villain. However, deep down he is a caring individual, concerned with making his dad proud.
