Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds Shares ‘Long Lost’ Fan Mail Response

Ryan Reynolds celebrated the fifth anniversary of the release of Deadpool on Feb. 13 by tweeting photos of a "long lost" fan letter, as well as his response to said fan.

"Five years later, I’m still in awe of Deadpool fans," Reynolds posted on Twitter. "Hunter wrote me this letter after #Deadpool came out and somehow my response never got mailed. Holds up. Mostly." Reynolds' post also included photos of two letters typed on paper: one from Hunter and a reply from Reynolds, which are both dated 2016.

The letter from Hunter, which comes with no evidence for being real, begins, "Dear Mr. Deadpool, I'd like to begin with complementing your fantastic, 'laugh my ass' off movie and I'd like to take the time to keep up the great work." The alleged fan goes on to describe the film as the "picture perfect 'R' rated movie" and notes that he hopes Fox and Marvel will "make a second movie for you, and not a crappy second movie, like most sequels are." He also asked Reynolds for advice on being more "badass like you."

In his response, Reynolds joked, "Can you imagine if DP was with MCU at Disney?" He also assured Hunter that "there'll be plenty" of sequels and suggested that the best way to be a badass is to "commit to one thing." Other highlights from the letter include Reynolds poking fun at a variety of pop culture events that have taken place since the movie came out, explaining that he recently invested in the infamous Fyre Festival and that, like Tom Brady and New England, he and acting are "together forever." Reynolds ended the note by telling Hunter that they should "stay connected on Vine!"

Following the success of Deadpool, a second installment in the film franchise dropped in 2018. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed in early January that the third installment in the Deadpool franchise will be an R-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. He said at the time, "It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan's overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year."

Deadpool 2 starred Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable and Julian Dennison as Russell. Deadpool 3 is in development at Marvel Studios but doesn't currently have a release date.
