The Nezuko and Tanjiro dynamic were among the Demon Slayer series’s highlights, besides the action-packed fights. It was a unique phenomenon that a shonen hero had a siblingーseeing how usually the protagonists’ family is either deceased, not apparent, or not around for various reasons.
These two teenagers go on a surprisingly dangerous journey of finding a cure for Nezuko’s demonic condition. Along the way, they kill demons, but they always remember to take a break to care for each other. Among the many precious moments Nezuko and Tanjiro share, most are composed of adorable shows of sibling affection with each other.
10 When Nezuko Shrinks Her Size To Get Inside Tanjiro’s Basket
Nezuko growing and shrinking in size is perhaps the cutest thing about her. When Tanjiro wanted her to shrink to fit inside his basket, it was quite cute to see him talk to her using fundamental words and broken sentences.
He tried his hardest to make her understand what she wanted, and when she obliged, she was thanked with a pat on her head.
9 When They Stumble Across A Couple Making Out In Public
The siblings came from a tiny village, so of course, a big city's lifestyle would come as a shock for them. However, Tanjiro was not prepared for the excessive cultural shock.
He blushed like a beetroot when he saw a couple kissing on the street. On the other hand, Nezuko nodded her head off since she felt sluggish due to a lack of energy.
8 When Nezuko Hugged Tanjiro For The First Time
While Nezuko was at Urokodaki’s house sleeping and recuperating, Tanjiro spent months training to become a demon slayer. When his training was finally over, he went to Urodaki'ss house and said, “Nezuko!”
She ran toward him and instantly hugged him. The hug was all the more special as she was asleep and had no idea her brother had been away for months.
7 When Tanjiro Protected Nezuko From Zenitsu's Advances
Zenitsu can come off strong at timesーand double so when it comes to Nezuko. Because of this, he borderline harassed her when he saw her for the first time, akin to when he first made an appearance in the first episode.
This is when Tanjiro’s big brother instincts kicked in, and he immediately stepped in between Zenitsu and Nezuko with his arms spread out. Nezuko stood behind him, tilting her head, and Tanjiro's face set the scene in stone.
6 When Tanjiro Gets Offended On Behalf Of Nezuko
When Yushiro met the siblings to lead them back to Tamayo, he is not impressed, and he passes a casual negative remark on Nezuko’s appearance.
It takes a while for Tanjiro to process and understand who the remark was aimed at, but the moment he understood it was for his sister, he was offended. He spent the rest of his time trying to convince Yushiro that Nezuko was a beautiful girlーeven claiming she was the beauty of their village.
5 When Tajiro’s First Instinct Was To Protect Nezuko During A Demon Attack
When Tanjiro and the others were sitting inside Tamayo’s house, they were ambushed and attacked by Susamaru and Yahaba. Susamaru’s temari balls destroyed a portion of the house.
Once the dust settled, viewers got to see how Yushiro protected Tamayo, and similarly, Tanjiro immediately rushed to protect Nezuko. While the situation itself was dangerous, there was no denying how endearing it was to see Tanjiro immediately rush to Nezuko’s side.
4 When Nezuko Was Confused After Yushiro PunchedTanjiro
Yushiro became aggravated every time Tanjiro said anything that he found offensive towards Tamayo. This would often result in Tanjiro being punched or smacked by Yushiro.
While Tanjiro would silently take these hits, it was quite adorable to see Nezuko’s reactions. She didn’t attack Yushiro, but she also clearly wasn’t happy with what was happening to Tanjiro.
3 When Tanjiro Watched Over Nezuko As She Slept On The Floor
After the entire ordeal with the Hashiraーwith Tanjiro being hit and Nezuko being tested for her loyaltyーboth siblings were pretty tired. While Tanjiro went to his quarters and sat on his bed, he found his sister lying on the floor, sound asleep.
To see a tiny Nezuko sleeping peacefully on the floor with her brother looking at her lovingly was perhaps one of the more touching moments from the series.
2 When Nezuko And Tanjiro Accepting Yamayo And Yushiro As Their Family
Nezuko patted Yushiro twice. The first was when they were at Tamayo’s house, and the second was after they had defeated the Yahaba-Susamaru duo.
This clearly indicated how Nezuko felt about them, which made Tanjiro happy, seeing how he, too, trusted them because of how kind Tamayo had been to both. To see Nezuko get out of her shell and create her own family was definitely a cute sight.
1 Nezuko’s Confusion At The Udon Man’s Enthusiasm
When the duo was in the city, Tanjiro was hungry, so he stopped at an udon stall to eat. The shop owner was a man who was proud of his cooking, and he seemed mildly offended at Nezuko, who did not show any interest in his food.
Of course, Tanjiro quickly rushed in to save his sister, as well as to avoid answering difficult questions about her. He ordered two plates of udon and made sure to compliment the food, before he paid for it and left, with Nezuko by his side.
