Falcon and Winter Soldier: US Agent Defiles Cap's Legacy in New Poster

U.S. Agent appears to be in possession of Captain America's shield in the latest poster for Marvel Studios/Disney+'s upcoming series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

The newest poster for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series released on Twitter, putting Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson/Falcon and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the spotlight. However, an image at the center of the poster seemingly shows Marvel Comics' John F. Walker -- aka U.S. Agent -- standing in the shadows with Cap's shield in his hand.

While neither Disney+ nor Marvel has confirmed it's U.S. Agent holding the shield, the image coincides with reports that the version of U.S. Agent appearing in the series will wear combat gear that displays American iconography and features bold red stripes on the chest. An American flag badge will also appear on his shoulder and a star with an A in its center will adorn his helmet. The poster also features Emily Van Camp's Sharon Carter and Daniel Brühl as masked supervillain Baron Zemo, as well as a team of other masked figures.

If it is U.S. Agent holding the shield, fans speculated there'll be some tension between him and Falcon, who inherited the iconic vibranium shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame. The fact that both Walker and Wilson have held the Captain America moniker at different points in Marvel Comics is also expected to be a major plotline in Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

In addition to the new poster, Disney+ debuted a new trailer for the series during Super Bowl LV. The new trailer opens with Wilson and Barnes working through their personal issues.

An official synopsis for Season 1 of the series reads,

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities -- and their patience -- in Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The all-new series is directed by Kari Skogland; Malcolm Spellman is the head writer.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series premieres March 19 on Disney+.
