HBO Max's Peacemaker Casts Riverdale, For All Mankind Alums | CBR

Riverdale's Alison Araya and For All Mankind's Lenny Jacobson joined the cast of HBO Max's Peacemaker in recurring roles.

According to Variety, the two will play the married couple Amber (Araya) and Evan (Jacobson). Details beyond that were not revealed.

The two join recently announced cast member Nhut Le, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow and Rizwan Manj. Le will play Hadley "Rip" Jagger, aka Judomaster. A master of martial arts, Judomaster specializes in judo and boxing. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow will portray Keeya, while Manj will star as Jamil. Character descriptions for those roles were not shared at the time of the announcement.

Peacemaker will star John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, who will make his debut in James Gunn's upcoming The Suicide Squad. The eight-episode series is currently filming and will serve as "an opportunity to delve into current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world's biggest douchebag," according to Gunn, who is writing and directing the series. The series will take a more mature tone compared to the other DC Comics TV series currently airing, such as The Flash and Supergirl.

The Suicide Squad, meanwhile, is in post-production and is scheduled to premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on Aug. 6. While it will serve as both a loose sequel and reboot of David Ayer's Suicide Squad, Gunn confirmed that viewers do not need to see Ayer's film to understand the new one.

Written and produced by James Gunn, Peacemaker stars John Cena, Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chris Conrad, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang, Christopher Heyerdahl, Alison Araya and Lenny Jacobson. The eight-episode series will arrive on HBO Max in January 2022.

The film arrives in theaters and on HBO Max on Aug. 6, 2021.
