Hot Toys has released its latest figures, based on the 1995 film Batman Forever.
The figures feature Val Kilmer's Batman decked out in the "sonar suit" he wears in the film's climax, and Chris O'Donnell's Robin. The Batman figure comes with several accessories including a "Sonic Batarang" and a grappling hook, as well as a base for the figure. The Robin figure also comes with a base, and highly sculpted details for his costume and face. Both figures are available for pre-order, and will go on sale around April 2022.
Batman Forever was directed by the late Joel Schumacher, who replaced Tim Burton. It became a commercial success, and led to Schumacher directing the 1997 follow-up Batman and Robin -- though Kilmer was replaced by George Clooney. In the years since its release, Batman Forever has gained a cult following.
Rumors have also spread of a longer cut of Batman Forever, which features more mature themes and delves deeper into Bruce Wayne's psyche. Though Warner Bros. has confirmed the cut exists, there are currently no plans to release it. A #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut movement briefly launched on Twitter, with actors including longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy urging Warner Bros to debut the longer cut on the HBO Max streaming service.
