Snowpiercer: Josie Gets Caught - But There's a TWIST | CBR

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Snowpiercer Season 2, Episode 5, "Keep Hope Alive."

Season 2 of Snowpiercer has found Layton (Daveed Diggs) getting desperate as he tries to get all 1,034 cars of the Eternal Engine to rally behind him. He knows Wilford (Sean Bean) has loyalists on board, so it's just a matter of time before the boss' train, Big Alice, has its people making their moves to overthrow and grab power.

However, while the show's latest episode sees Layton's own spy on Wilford's ark gets caught, there's a unique twist that could drastically change the war to come.

Josie's been sent over to Big Alice for "goop" treatment for her mangled body. The mad scientists, the Headwoods, have synthetic tissue and various treatments to help her frostbitten frame, but she's been secretly sending messages back. She's working with a small cell on Wilford's train, including the seamstress Emilia, informing Layton of the inner-workings and other details in case Snowpiercer has to raid.

She can tell people there are hungry and in need of a better society, which Layton wants to leverage. However, she's hearing talk of the Breachmen and a possible attack on Layton's camp, so during surgery, she fakes taking her sleep meds in order to listen in. She scribes the message down of the impending coup right after, but just when she slips it into the laundry, Icy Bob appears.

At first, it seems like he wants the message, but he's actually talking about her meds. Bob takes them and leaves Josie to send her message, indicating that he's some sort of ally. Now, this is intriguing because it could mean that he's allowing her to send information because he wants out of Wilford's scheme.

Usually, his confrontations end with people dying or being tossed to Wilford, so this seems to be an indication that Bob wants Wilford's regime to fall. Of course, he won't be culpable because he'll have plausible deniability, meaning Josie will have to monitor how Bob angles himself in the coming days. He could be an ally, but she can't trust him just yet as Wilford could have him playing games with her.

Snowpiercer stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Jaylin Fletcher. The series airs on Mondays at 9pm ET/PT on TNT.
