While Marvel Studios President and Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige dubbed the upcoming Spidey film as Homecoming 3, Spider-Man fans have been waiting to know what, exactly, to call the upcoming Spider-Man film from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
On Feb. 23, a couple of prospective titles for the upcoming Spider-Man 3 film were dropped on Instagram, notably, Spider-Man: Phone Home and Spider-Man: Home-Wrecker.
Actor Zendaya gave her take on the film, by sharing exclusive movie stills and its title, which she named, Spider-Man: Home Slice. Previously, actor Tom Holland shared the Phone Home title whereas actor Jacob Batalon shared the Home-Wrecker title. Zendaya shared the movie stills and prospective film titles with the caption, "So excited to announce the new Spider-Man title. So proud of this one...FOS is back!"
Details about the plot of Spider-Man 3 have been coming to light as the film approaches its Dec. 17 release date. Various casting announcements indicate that the film will explore Marvel's multiverse. Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, while Alfred Molina returns as Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2. There are also reports that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as their respective Spider-Men roles, although those reports have not been confirmed. Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange in the third Spidey film.
Marvel Studios President and Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige confirmed that Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would address plot developments from WandaVision, with Benedict Cumberbatch reprising his role as Doctor Strange in both. Given the rumored appearance of prior Spider-Man actors/characters from previous franchises and the presence of the Sorcerer Supreme, fans speculated the film's plot will explore a multiverse akin to 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
A recent report also suggested that Willem Dafoe will have a part in the upcoming Spidey film after he was spotted on-set in early February. However, it's unconfirmed if Dafoe will be reprising his role of Norman Osborn for the latest adventure of Spider-Man.
Directed by Jon Watts, the currently untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 17.
