10 Anime That Would Be Over In A Few Episodes If Goku Were The Main Character

Anime continues to prove itself as one of the most ambitious and versatile mediums of entertainment. It often feels like the variety of stories that anime explores couldn’t be done anywhere else. Every year brings forward dozens of promising new anime series, many of which have introduced beloved shonen heroes to audiences.

There can be much common ground between the shonen series, but they often operate in very different worlds with contrasting power levels. Out of all of the anime protagonists to come along, Dragon Ball’s Goku is one of the most popular and one of the most powerful. He’s the type of anime hero who would resolve certain series before getting a chance to really get started due to the strength he possesses.

10 Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo’s Exaggerated World Is Like Practice For Goku

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is a ridiculous gag anime series. It’s a brilliant takedown of the shonen genre’s ridiculous nature and overpowered characters, yet it also manages to craft an engaging story at the same time. The Maruhage Empire and their Hair Hunters are determined to reduce the world's population to baldness, which is problematic for the anime's afro-sporting hero, Bo-bobo. Hair is also a fundamental aspect of Goku's Super Saiyan transformations, but he wouldn't have actually to be concerned here. His ability to fly, teleport, and launch devastating energy would quickly reduce the Maruhage Empire to rubble.

9 The God Of High School Competition Can’t Compare To The World Martial Arts Tournament

The God Of High School is a more recent anime series that adapts a wildly popular manhwa series that pits the strongest high school students from across South Korea in mysterious competition with each other. The God of High School boasts competent fighters skilled in many diverse fighting styles, but characters like Jin Mori have access to even greater reservoirs of power. Goku is well versed in tournament battle, and the majority of his competitions feature higher stakes and tougher opponents than what’s assembled for The God of High School.

8 InuYasha’s Challenges Are Lighter Versions Of Goku’s Accomplishments

InuYasha is a shonen series that thematically shares a lot in common with Dragon Ball. The anime is full of dangerous demons and magical blades that are destined for legendary combat. The grand prize that demons are after, the Shikon Jewel and its fragments, is not dissimilar to Goku’s quest for the Dragon Balls.

It’s for all of these reasons that Goku would dominate in the world of InuYasha or Yashahime. He’d be able to take out Naraku with minimal difficulty and span the scene and acquire the Shikon Jewel with little difficulty.

7 Kill La Kill’s Life Fiber Invasion Is Business As Usual For Goku

Kill la Kill is one of Studio Trigger's signature series. It tells the almost Shakespearean saga between Ryuko and Satsuki, two sisters sworn to combat yet also have a common goal. Kill la Kill combines a proper school setting with fantastical fight sequences and alien Life Fibers. It's a chaotic mix, but the type of conflict feels like what Goku deals with in a mini filler arc. Life Fibers are a thorough enemy, but Goku has conquered parasitic invasions like Baby. He's more than prepared to extinguish this madness before it gets out of hand.

6 Goku Masters Yu Yu Hakusho’s Spirit Detective Routine Without Even Trying

Yu Yu Hakusho is a satisfying shonen series out of the ‘90s that turns high school delinquent Yusuke Urameshi into an important and revolutionary champion for the spirit world. There are various demonic obstacles that need to get conquered throughout Yu Yu Hakusho, but a large portion of it revolves around a demon tournament. Yu Yu Hakusho’s Dark Tournament is not unlike Dragon Ball Z’s Other World Tournament, which also leaves Goku capable of winning this scenario and easily taking out both Toguro siblings.

5 The Ghouls Of Tokyo Ghoul Pale To Dragon Ball’s Worst Enemies

The Tokyo Ghoul universe is set in an alternate reality where a longstanding war has waged between humans and vicious ghouls. A persistent power struggle exists between the CCG and Aogiri Tree, which mostly results in the city's progressive destruction.

Ken Kaneki quickly and unintentionally becomes a ghoul hybrid, and his journey leaves everything in ruins. The ghouls in Tokyo Ghoul, even the ultimate dragon form that Kaneki takes on, are still nothing that Goku hasn’t already tackled. The worst ghouls are like what Goku contends with in the Dragon Ball Z movies.

4 Ranma ½’s Wild Characters And Problems Are Still Grounded For Goku

Ranma Saotome and the eccentric characters in Ranma ½ is the perfect mix of absurd and honorable. The series almost feels like a blend between the original Dragon Ball and Fruits Basket due to most of Ranma ½’s characters' transformative capabilities. Ranma and company are traditional martial artists, so Goku has them greatly outclassed in power. The Jusenkyo Springs, which are at the center of Ranma ½ is also the type of early obstacle or puzzle that Goku would need to figure out for himself.

3 Goku Could Send Gintama’s Amanto Packing With A Firm Glare

Gintama is a rare example of a series that effortlessly ricochets between absurdist comedy and dramatic serialization. The anime frequently trades in nonsense, but its core story involves Edo’s invasion by Amanto aliens who outlaw the samurai's ways. There are other dangers along the way, but Goku’s specialty takes out predatory extraterrestrials who can’t be happy with what they have. The Amanto are nothing in comparison to Frieza, Baby, or Moro. Goku wouldn’t waste any time, and he’d take the fight right to space and show them that Earth is off-limits.

2 Goku’s Saiyan Skills Put Even My Hero Academia’s Strongest Quirk To Shame

My Hero Academia is one of the most popular shonen series of the decade, and Izuku Midoriya’s progress into a professional hero is not unlike Goku’s development as a fighter. Admittedly, the Quirks in My Hero Academia are incredibly diverse and could likely give Goku pause. However, Goku has had to improvise against some extremely persistent forces of evil. No one in My Hero Academia has the power to destroy the planet, and Goku’s raw strength and resilient abilities would allow him to make the League of Villains look like the Red Ribbon Army.

1 Demon Slayer’s Demon Moon Are Like A Warmup For Goku

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the hottest new anime series. Its demons are no laughing matter, and Muzan Kibutsuji has assembled a formidable roster of maniacs within his Demon Moon. He’s also more than willing to wipe the slate clean when his support disappoints him. Muzan and his team's right strategy could maybe catch Goku off guard, but if the Saiyan enters the battle with a rational mind, then he shouldn’t struggle. Goku’s transformations are more than enough here, and Ultra Instinct would keep Goku safe from any surprise attacks.
