Many of these Pokémon are Legendary Pokemon or Psychic-types with the ability to communicate with people with their telepathic powers. No matter how these Pokémon are able to communicate in a human language, it is still an impressive feat displayed by only a few. It is undeniably useful in helping Pokémon to get their thoughts across or to translate for others.

10 Hoopah Asks Humans If They Were Surprised By Its Pranks

Hoopah greatly enjoys its ability to speak to humans. Being a prankster, it often asks people if they were surprised by its antics, to which people begrudgingly agree. In Hoopa And The Clash Of Ages, Hoopah is a social Pokémon that enjoys showing off in front of humans. In exchange for gifts, Hoopah gives the villagers whatever they want. When in its unbound form, Hoopa is still able to communicate with humans.

8 Slowking Is Intelligent Enough To Speak To Humans

In Pokémon 2000: The Power Of One, Ash Ketchum meets a Slowking. He is briefly taken by surprise when he discovers that the Slowking can talk, but the Slowking provides no explanation as to why it can do so. However, Pokédex entries explain that thanks to the Shellder attached to its head, Slowking is very intelligent. Every time Slowking yawns, the Shellder bites down and injects toxins that make Slowking smarter. Its intelligence matches those of award-winning scientists.

7 Lugia Communicates Through Telepathy When Necessary

In Pokémon 2000: The Power Of One, Lugia is seen telepathically speaking to Ash. This appears to be the most efficient way for it to communicate with others, as it likes to spend most of its time deep at the bottom of the ocean. Although it had to surface to calm down the legendary bird trio, Lugia's wings are capable of blowing apart houses and creating 40-day storms, so it still isn't very safe for it to get too close to humans.

6 Mewtwo Questioned Humanity Through Telepathy & Came To Despise It

Mewtwo is a Psychic Pokémon that has been able to telepathically communicate with both humans and Pokémon a little after its creation. It was able to communicate with others even while it was unconscious. Mewtwo wanted to discover its purpose as well as its place in the world, so it questioned humans and attacked them if it didn't care for the answers it received. It grew to dislike humans, but unlike some other Legendary Pokémon, it still communicated with them.

5 Volcanion Comes Across As A Grumpy Old Man While Communicating With Humans

Despite not being a Psychic-type Pokémon, Volcanion is seen communicating with Ash Ketchum through telepathy in Volcanion And The Mechanical Marvel. Volcanion comes across as a grumpy old man who feels the need to constantly remind Ash how much it doesn't like humans. It's never explained why or how it talks to humans, but it ultimately helps Volcanion protect Magearna, a Legendary Pokémon that Volcanion cares about.

4 Gastly Speaks Through The People It Possesses

Gastly is capable of possessing people. Channelers, the priestesses located in Lavender Town's Pokémon Tower, seem to be especially susceptible to their influence. Most of them appear to be possessed by the ghost Pokémon in the surrounding area when they challenge the trainer to a battle. Through possessions, Gastly can talk to others, although the possessed individuals typically display strange behavior.

3 Rotom Speaks Through A Pokédex

Rotom obtains the ability to communicate to humans as long as it enters the right kind of electronic device. This includes PCs, phones, and the Pokédex. In the Pokédex, it can communicate in the human language, and it likes to collect information.

1 Jirachi Needs To Communicate With Humans In Order To Grant Their Wishes

Like some other Psychic Pokémon, Jirachi is able to communicate with others using telepathy. Considering how Jirachi is known for granting wishes for one week every 1,000 years, it makes sense that it would have the ability to effectively communicate with humans. It is also able to grant wishes that are written on the notes attached to its head, which means that Jirachi is capable of reading human languages as well.
