When Sasuke was a child, his elder brother massacred his entire clan, including their parents, for the sake of the village. However, he lied and told Sasuke that he just wanted to test his abilities, which caused his little brother to become consumed by hatred towards him, and vowed to get strong enough to beat him.
Over time, Sasuke became an extremely skilled Shinobi and learned multiple techniques, which made him a formidable opponent in Naruto. While some of these techniques were quite subdued in nature, some of them were so strong that they could easily level mountains within seconds. Without a doubt, the one thing that made Sasuke such a strong Shinobi was that he was well-versed in several fighting styles, and did not always need jutsu to be deadly.
10 Better Without Jutsu: Sasuke’s Lion Barrage Combo Could Cause Heavy Physical Damage To His Opponent
When Rock Lee challenged Sasuke to a fight, Sasuke observed Lee’s Lion Combo moves, which were the first few steps of the Lion Barrage move he invented later. Since Lee’s combo had remained unfinished, Sasuke had to improvise the ending of the move, and that was when he invented the Lion Barrage.
He added his own twist to the move when he attacked his opponent, Yoroi, during the Chunin exams, and came up with his own “barrage” of attacks. He used this attack on several foes later.
9 Better With Jutsu: Sasuke Could Use The Sharingan For Multiple Purposes
Sasuke’s Sharingan was arguably the most important tool in his arsenal. Like most Uchihas, the Sharingan allowed him to copy jutsu, mimic movements, sense his opponent’s attacks, and read lips. Its other abilities included, but were not limited to, seeing the flow of chakra, seeing everything with near-perfect accuracy, photographic memory, and higher visual perception.
Sasuke also evolved his Sharingan to the Mangekyo Sharingan, which gave him abilities like the Susanoo and Amaterasu, which made him almost unstoppable during battle.
8 Better Without Jutsu: Sasuke Could Use Ninja Tools With Deadly Accuracy & Expertise
Most of the Uchiha clan members were prodigies when it came to using ninja tools, and Sasuke was no exception. Across the series, he showed proficiency in using the ninja tools in different ways to get an advantage over his opponents.
During their fight with Zabuza, Sasuke and Naruto used his Windmill Shuriken to their advantage and used it to free Kakashi. He even used ninja wires with his tools on various occasions to gain the upper hand.
7 Better With Jutsu: Sasuke’s Fire Style Jutsu Got Him Out Of Many Sticky Situations
Sasuke, like most Uchihas, was excellent with fire release, since Fire chakra manipulation was taught to them since they were children. Sasuke, too, learned the Fireball jutsu when he was just in school. He could manipulate fire expertly and learned a repertoire of fire jutsu throughout the show.
After he awakened his Mangekou Sharingan, it gave him the ability to use Amaterasu (black flames that couldn’t be extinguished) which was the highest level of fire release. It would stop burning only if the target got burned completely, or he stopped it.
6 Better Without Jutsu: Sasuke's Mastery Of Kenjutsu Set Him Apart From Other Shinobi
Sasuke was trained in the art of the sword (Kenjutsu) by Kakashi and Orochimaru. Kenjutsu was a tough skill to master, and it took years to get the hang of it. It was not surprising that Sasuke chose to learn Kenjutsu, seeing how his only goal was to become stronger than his brother.
He tried his hardest to learn everything he could to reach his goal, and he was even able to combine lightning with his sword, in order to attack his opponents, and dealt irreparable damage to his opponents.
5 Better With Jutsu: Sasuke Could Summon Two Animals With His Summoning Jutsu
Orochimaru had trained Sasuke in the summoning jutsu. Through this jutsu, depending on his need, he could summon hawks or snakes. He used his hawks to travel faster or fight in mid-air and summoned the snakes to fight when in close quarters or when fighting on the ground.
He could also use “Hidden Shadow Snake Hands,” a technique taught to him by Orochimaru, which summoned several snakes from his sleeve and caught his opponents off guard.
4 Better Without Jutsu: Sasuke Was A Natural Taijutsu User
Sasuke was as proficient in taijutsu as he was using tools and swords, seeing how being a part of the Uchiha clan meant that he was supposed to be good at it, anyway
The Uchihas' taijutsu relied heavily on the information that they got from the Sharingan, through which they could anticipate and dodge their opponents' attacks with ease. Sasuke would usually wait for his opponent to attack him, before he counter-attacked at the right moment, usually dealing more damage than he received.
3 Better With Jutsu: Sasuke’s Mastery Of The Lightning Style Jutsu Helped Him Win Many Fights
Sasuke was one of those rare ninja who had two natural abilities — he could use both fire release and lightning release. Kakashi, who was also a lightning-style user, realized this early on and taught Sasuke how to wield lightning.
The Copy Ninja also taught him his signature jutsu, the Chidori (Thousand Chirping birds), from which Sasuke made his signature jutsu as well. He enhanced his lightning style by creating a lightning blade that extended long enough to slash through any target. He also invented Kirin, which was the jutsu that could summon actual lightning from the atmosphere.
2 Better Without Jutsu: Orochimaru’s Cursed Seal of Heaven Gave Sasuke Enhanced Strength & Powers
The cursed seal of heaven was a seal that Orochimaru developed and gave to several subordinates of his. Orochimaru also forcibly gave Sasuke this seal during the Chunin exams. When used partially, at the first level, it engulfed one's body in black flame-like markings and gave the user a boost in speed and chakra.
The second level of the seal gave him wing-like protrusions and increased his chakra and strength capacity manifold. He used the seal during several fights to gain the upper hand on his opponents. He also used this form while fighting Orochimaru, when he finally killed him.
1 Better With Jutsu: Sasuke Could Wield The Rinnegan, The Most Powerful Kekkei Genkai Of All
During Team Seven’s fight with Madara Uchiha, Sasuke and Naruto met the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo. He blessed them both with the Sage of Six Paths chakra, which granted them some of his abilities. Sasuke was blessed with the Rinnegan in his left eye, which gave him access to all the Rinnegan abilities.
It allowed him to teleport within short distances, create portals to other dimensions, and also gave him the ability to control all the tailed beasts, making him one of the most powerful humans to exist in the Shinobi world.
