The newest TV spot for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier features Sam Wilson breaking down the three major threats of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The TV spot begins with Wilson talking to Bucky Barnes about the Flag-Smashers, the anarchist group the duo will face over the course of the series. "These guys use brute force," Wilson tells Barnes. "They're strong. Too strong." Footage features the Flag-Smashers engaging in combat with Barnes, with one of them even pulling up a parking meter and using it as a weapon.
Wilson also posits that the Flag-Smashers may be one of the "Big Three." When Barnes asks, Wilson clarifies: "Androids, aliens and wizards." "That's not a thing," Barnes retorts, even going on to say that "there are no wizards." When Wilson brings up Doctor Strange, Barnes says that he's a sorcerer, leading to a perfect response from Wilson: "A sorcerer is a wizard without a hat."
The threats Barnes mentions have appeared in previous MCU films. Ultron was an android, while several aliens have come to Earth to defend it or menace it. Doctor Strange took on some rogue "wizards" in his solo film and was even referred to as one in Avengers: Infinity War — giving Wilson the edge in his argument.
Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series premieres March 19 on Disney+.
