Final Space: All the Unanswered Questions From the Pilot | CBR

Final Space is a revolutionary series by Olan Rogers. Released as a pilot in 2016 on Youtube before being picked up by Conanco and TBSFinal Space is an intergalactic epic following Gary Goodspeed and his group of friends as they battle galactic forces and help protect Mooncake, an adorable planet killer from another dimension. With two seasons released and a third premiering on March 20th, 2021, there are some unanswered questions from the pilot.

In the pilot, Gary recorded a message to Quinn, reminding her this was their five-year anniversary and giving audiences the important origin story of how they met. Audiences were reintroduced to Gary before his sentencing as he ran away from two other-worldly characters, Derek and Dr. Bluestein. They chased Gary down as he stole something from them, but Gary claimed it was originally his.

The object in question was a diamond that holds enough importance for Derek and Dr. Bluestein to pursue Gary. The diamond does not make another appearance, but it should. Final Space has proven that no small detail is unimportant, and the origin of the diamond must come up somewhere again, especially with all the time traveling adventures that the team get into.

As he worked on repairs, Gary decided to take a break, watching a movie but not making it far as he saw a pixel on the loose, which turned out to be Mooncake. While his origin remained a mystery for quite some time, audiences came to learn that he's final space energy formed from the closing of the breach by Gary's dad.

In the years between Mooncake's arrival into the main reality and his run in with Gary, nothing is known. The Lord Commander seems to have struggled to find him since the breach, so Mooncake must have hidden somewhere all that time.

Building onto the previous question, the introduction of the Lord Commander is mixed with that of Mooncake's previous owner. His name's unknown, as well as any details regarding his life. He mentioned some friends who need to hear about the Lord Commander's stature, but his friends were also unknown.

Before this mysterious figure was tortured by the Lord Commander, he revealed one more detail. He did not know where Mooncake was or where he came from, since Mooncake found him. This could mean Mooncake ran into him like he did with Gary, or Mooncake was instructed by Bolo the Titan to go to this man, knowing it would eventually lead him to Gary.

Gary started the series off as a prisoner after destroying 92 star cruisers and a small family-owned Mexican restaurant while impersonating a pilot. His punishment was deep space repairs while alone in a ship with robots and the artificial intelligence H.U.E. After the Galaxy 1 got boarded by Ventrexian bounty hunters, H.U.E activated defensive measures with the SAMES, which proved unsuccessful and led to the Galaxy 1 needing to light-fold.

While H.U.E. activated some defenses, the attack should have alerted the Infinity Guard of a possible prison break. H.U.E. did seem to act as the prison guard, so his actions should be good enough to prevent any escape attempts, yet the Galaxy 1 seemed to be forgotten. The Infinity Guard should have been aware of this attempt, unless the Galaxy 1 was hidden from someone inside the Guard.
