Invincible Creator on What Surprised Him About the Animated Series

While Invincible comic book co-creator Robert Kirkman is heavily involved with the upcoming Amazon Prime adaptation, there are still elements of the show that surprised him.

Kirkman, who co-created the long-running Image Comics/Skybound Entertainment comic series with Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, serves as the animated series creator. However, seeing his story in animation allowed Kirkman to view his story differently. "When you watch it, the action is a little bit more brutal when things are moving, which I think is kind of cool and really exciting and is going to serve to heighten things in this series," Kirkman told CBR.

He added, "These are characters that I should know intimately and know better than anyone, but getting to work with these actors and hear these voices and how these performances come together, it's like I'm meeting these characters again for the first time in the absolute best way. I'm seeing new angles to these characters, new aspects to them that really didn't exist before just by how the actors are interpreting things on the page and adding their own spin."

The series creator continued, "It's really making me more excited about moving forward with this for many, many seasons with this cast because, now that I feel that I know these characters better, there's a lot more cool things that we can do with them along the way."
