Loki: 10 Wild Fan Theories That Might Be True | CBR

Now that WandaVision has officially come to a close, fans are optimistically looking forward to the MCU's future on Disney+. While The Mandalorian was excellent, viewers were still hesitant about the Marvel shows coming out on the new streaming platform.

As Marvel’s television shows are notoriously hit or miss, some audiences were concerned that Disney may not have committed as hard as they needed to their Disney+ shows. However, now that WandaVision is a resounding success, fans are already eagerly theorizing about what potentially wild plots could come from the MCU’s next magical show, Loki, scheduled to start airing on June 11th, 2021.

10 Captain America Will Make An Appearance In Loki

As Avengers: Endgame drew to a close, Steve Rogers realized he would need to go back in time and return each of the Infinity Stones to their places in the timeline so that nothing would get messed up. As a result, fans are wondering if they might see Captain America making an appearance in Loki.

Because Loki stole one of the Infinity Stones — the Space Stone, specifically — in Avengers: Endgame and took off with it, audiences have been speculating that Loki and Cap might have a confrontation over the existence of this stone. With the stone in Loki’s hands, only mischief could result, and Steve would likely want to preemptively prevent anything like that.

9 An Alternate Thanos Will Be The Antagonist To Alternate Loki’s Protagonist

Because the end of the Infinity Saga was characterized by space manipulation, time-traveling, and complex alternate universes, fans wonder when they might see these alternate universes pop up again.

As Loki creating his own new alternate timeline in Avengers: Endgame proved, any character could do this, given the right abilities and possessions. If Loki could create an alternate timeline with the Space Stone, then an alternate Thanos may seek to pursue him in search of this stone.

8 The Original Loki Already Died And Loki From The Show Swapped Him Out Years Ago

One wild theory that fans began suggesting the moment Loki vanished from the main timeline in Avengers: Endgame is the idea that we have already seen this alternate Loki before. Some fans have begun suggesting that Loki really did die in Thor: The Dark World.

This theory speculates that, after the original Loki died in Thor: The Dark World, the alternate version of Loki from Loki re-entered the main timeline and took his own place. As a result, this alternate timeline has already existed in the MCU for years — and died already, too, at the hands of Thanos.

7 Loki Died On Purpose — And He Will Bring Back Reinforcements From Valhalla

Fans were shocked when Loki died at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War. Of course, they were not shocked simply because he died but because he didn’t come back afterward. Viewers were forced to confront Loki’s lifeless body and the knowledge that he would not be able to come back this time as Thor did, grieving with him for the lost character of Loki.

However, because Loki died so quickly and easily, some fans are still suspicious. They theorize that Loki died on purpose to get to Valhalla and that he will return to the main timeline and team up with his own alternate self in Loki to finally help Thor out.

6 There Are Going To Be Multiple Different Versions Of Loki On The Show

One of the best parts of having a character like Loki is how speculative fan theories can become. As Loki is a mighty magical being in both the comics and the movies, he could do pretty much anything in the show and have it be explained in some technically logical canonical way.

As such, some fans are suggesting that there will be multiple versions of Loki in Loki. In the comics, Loki has multiple interpretations, including a female Loki and a child Loki. Some MCU fans wonder if Loki will explore alternate versions of Loki in alternate realities or alternate selves of a shape-shifting Loki.

5 The Show Will Introduce Kid Loki

With the recent introduction of Billy and Tommy, also known as Wiccan and Speed, to the MCU in WandaVision, fans wonder when the rest of the Young Avengers will arrive on the scene. America Chavez, or Miss America, is supposed to make her debut appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Kate Bishop, or Hawkeye, is arriving on Disney+ in Hawkeye.

As so many Young Avengers are arriving, there is much speculation on whether Loki will introduce Kid Loki. In the comics, Loki was reborn without many of his adult memories and trained by Thor as a hero before he fought with the Young Avengers. Some believe this is how Loki will end: with Loki being reborn as a child, ready to fight with his fellow kid heroes.

4 The Loki In The TV Show Will Project An Illusion For Thanos To Kill, Rather Than The Real Loki

Viewers were so shocked when Loki died in Avengers: Infinity War and didn’t come back because this man always had a plan. Loki is the God of Mischief, the Trickster God, and one of the most powerful magicians who has ever existed. As such, the way he died in Infinity War didn’t seem to suit the character.

This has led many fans to speculate that the Loki that died in Infinity War was not really Loki but was actually an illusion. These fans believe that Loki will show the alternate Loki going to the scene and projecting an illusion of himself for Thanos to kill, rather than his true self, to protect both himself and Thor.

3 Loki Will Locate Other Infinity Stones, Such As The Time Stone, To Cause Mischief

Loki has already gotten his hands on one stone and gone into an alternate dimension with it. In stealing the Space Stone and starting a new timeline with it, Loki has totally changed space, time, and the MCU rules. Now that he has control over this new timeline, fans wonder if he might seek out another Infinity Stone, such as the Time Stone.

If Loki got his hands on the Time Stone, he could go into the past to warn himself or into the future to see what horrors await and prevent them before they even get the chance to begin. Because he’s Loki, though, he would probably use the Time Stone to cause mischief more than anything else.

2 Loki Will Return To The MCU After The TV Show As The Franchise’s New Big Bad — Or Their New Biggest Hero

When Loki was first introduced, fan reception to him was unsurprisingly optimistic and warm. With Tom Hiddleston in the role, he was a quick hit, and he skyrocketed to popularity after The Avengers was released in 2012. As Loki is such a booming success, Marvel has been unwilling to release him, leading to a starring role in the franchise and him getting his own show only a decade after he first appeared.

Because Loki is only getting more and more popular, fans speculate that Disney and Marvel will use Loki to slowly change the character into one of the franchise’s big heroes. If they don’t, other fans believe the show will establish Loki as the MCU’s next big bad, not a hero, more like the comics threatening Loki.

1 Loki From The TV Show Will Somehow End Up In Thor: Love And Thunder

One of the fan theories that has gained the most traction is the firm belief that Loki is somehow going to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder. After how excellent Thor: Ragnarok was and how much everybody loved Loki in that movie, fans struggled to believe that the character won’t be in Taika Waititi’s next installment in the MCU.

As a result, many fans have been theorizing that Loki will somehow end so that Loki will be able to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder. The MCU has definitely done far stranger things, and Loki has come back from the dead more than once. This is not only in the realm of possibility; it’s almost commonly accepted to be true at this point.
