Mission: Impossible 7 Adds Deadpool 2, Game of Thrones and Stranger Things Alums

The cast of Mission: Impossible: 7 gained five new actors.

Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie revealed the new cast members on his Instagram page. The new cast members include Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss and Charles Parnell. On the post featuring Elwes, McQuarrie wrote, "Welcome to The Community." Each post also featured the #MI7 and #MI8 hashtags.

Elwes is best known for his role in The Princess Bride and also starred in Season 3 of Stranger Things. Varma appeared in Game of Thrones and was recently tapped to join the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. Delaney appeared in Deadpool 2 and Hobbes & Shaw, while Gatiss is best known for his role Sherlock. Rounding out the cast is Parnell, who voiced Nick Fury in the Marvel's Avengers video game developed by Square Enix and will appear in Top Gun: Maverick — which stars Mission: Impossible lead Tom Cruise and was co-written by McQuarrie.

McQuarrie originally planned to film Mission: Impossible 7 and its sequel Mission: Impossible 8 back-to-back. However, those plans were scrapped due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and Cruise's promotional duties for Top Gun: Maverick, though neither films' release dates shifted.

Mission: Impossible 7 stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff and Shea Whigham. The film arrives in theaters Nov. 19, 2021, while Mission: Impossible 8 releases on Nov. 4, 2022.
