Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland might be eager to see everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's programming lineup, but he particularly hopes Marvel will let him watch Black Widow in advance.
In a video interview with ScreenRant about his latest film Cherry, Holland was asked which MCU project he's most excited for after WandaVision concludes, his own Spider-Man: No Way Home aside. After calling WandaVision "easily one of my favorite Marvel shows I've ever seen," Holland noted his excitement for Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki series, the former due to his "famously strange rocky relationship" with its lead characters. dating back to their original fight in Captain America: Civil War.
However, he and the rest of No Way Home's cast are all genuinely excited to watch Black Widow, and have made it quite clear to Marvel Studios' higher-ups. "We've been pestering Marvel for weeks to see if they'll set up a screening for Black Widow for us but they haven't," Holland lamented. "So if you're watching, Marvel, sort it out, because we want to watch it."
Black Widow was originally meant to come out in 2020, followed up by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, its release date was pushed back a full year to May 2021, with WandaVision taking Black Widow's place as both the first MCU Phase 4 project and first of many Disney+ TV shows directly connected to the cinematic timeline. The film will see Natasha Romanoff (Scarlet Johansson) reunite with figures from her past, including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour), to stop a new threat involving the mysterious Taskmaster, who now runs the Red Room program.
Holland is currently filming No Way Home, whose story remains unknown but will pick up with the fallout of Peter Parker's identity being exposed in Spider-Man: Far From Home's mid-credit scene. In addition to Holland's co-stars Jacob Batalon and Zendaya returning as Ned and MJ, the film is also rumored to feature cameos from previous non-MCU Spider-Man movie villains, including Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx's Electro.
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film is currently set for a December 17 release date.
Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, O-T Fagbenle as Mason and Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff. Directed by Cate Shortland, the movie arrives in theaters May 7.
