One of the most anticipated appearances in Zack Snyder's Justice League is of the mercenary Deathstroke, once again portrayed by Joe Manganiello. Now, a new detail about Deathstroke's costume has been revealed, which features a tie to one of Batman's longtime villains.
Actor Geoff Reeves recently visited the Zack Snyder's Justice League exhibit in Dallas' ATT Discovery District, where he noticed that Deathstroke's sword bears the symbol of Ra's al Ghul. Happy, Sad, Confused podcast host Josh Horowitz confirmed the symbol was Ra's, followed by Manganiello himself.
After briefly appearing in the theatrical cut of Justice League in a post-credits scene, Manganiello will reprise his role for a new scene set in the hellish "Knightmare" future, where Darkseid has decimated the Earth. Manganiello will sport a mohawk as Deathstroke, which he admitted was a product of his pitch for a Deathstroke film: "In the end of the film I always envisioned him shaving his head into some kind of warlike, borderline suicide mission, 'This is it, I'm going to die like a warrior.'" Manganiello told Snyder about the idea, who embraced it.
The Justice League exhibit features costumes and storyboards from Snyder's planned Justice League trilogy, including artwork by DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee. Details from the exhibit leaked online before its opening, which included Lex Luthor forming the Legion of Doom.
Zack Snyder's Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The film arrives on HBO Max March 18.
