10 Anime Characters Who Could Keep Up With The Flash | CBR

In the world of DC comics, the Flash is the fastest man alive, and heroes such as Barry Allen and Wally West have saved the day many times as the Flash. Naturally, his best asset is his speed, accomplishing astonishing feats simply by running fast enough or vibrating his body. Outrunning bullets is just the start.

How does this DC hero stack up to the huge world of shonen and seinen anime and manga? If the Flash pushes himself to the max, he can outrun any of them, since speed is game. But if the Flash slows down just a bit, then there are many anime characters who could keep pace with him, either in a sprint or in rapid-fire melee combat. Who's got the speed to make the Flash sweat?

10 Yoruichi Shihoin, The Goddess Of Flash (Bleach)

A variety of characters in this series are quick on their feet, such as Soul Reapers who use the flash step technique (shunpo), or Arrancars who use the sonido technique. Captain Byakuya Kuchiki is a famed flash step user, but even he can't compare to Yoruichi Shihoin.

Yoruichi is renowned as the "Goddess of Flash," and she could almost literally give Barry Allen a run for his money. It also helps that Yoruichi is a trained ninja and assassin, making her an elegant and deadly user of the flash step. She can appear or disappear in an eyeblink.

9 Minato Namikaze, The Fourth Hokage (Naruto)

Yoruichi and Barry Allen aren't the only fictional characters to have a nickname based on "flash." There is also Minato Namikaze, the popular fourth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village (and Naruto Uzumaki's father). He was known as the Yellow Flash, and for good reason.

Minato could use summoning jutsu, kunai knives, and the Rasengan technique in battle, and his legendary speed made him a tough target to hit. In particular, he could throw his kunai knife, then teleport to its location to throw off his enemies.

8 All Might, The Symbol Of Peace (My Hero Academia)

Although All Might is best known for his super strength and his charisma, he is also a very quick hero, with his speed rating being 6/5 (just like his other stats). All Might can rapidly move across any battlefield to evade enemy attacks or get within melee range, and no one can keep up.

Even when injured and weighed down, All Might easily caught up with Izuku and Bakugo as they tried to flee, and there's no doubt that at his prime, All Might would be a blur on the battlefield. Even Barry Allen must respect that.

7 Saitama, The Caped Baldy (One-Punch Man)

Just like All Might, Saitama the caped hero is better known for his godly strength and endurance than his speed. He's famous for defeating any foe or destroying any obstacle with a single knuckle sandwich, but his footwork is equally impressive.

In battle, Saitama can move like a blur, and even outpace his one-sided rival, Speed-O'-Sound Sonic the ninja. Saitama can dodge any projectile and catch up to any fleeing villain, and the Flash would break a real sweat trying to outrun him.

6 Admiral Kizaru/Borsalino, The Man Of Light (One Piece)

The variety of Devil Fruits in this series is impressive, and the strongest fruits allow their users to turn their bodies into a certain element, such as fire or even darkness. Admiral Kizaru can turn into sheer light, and not just to act as a human flash-bang grenade. He's an incredibly powerful fighter in other ways, too.

Admiral Kizaru can deliver kicks at lightspeed, and that's something even the Flash must take seriously. Kizaru has also been seen standing atop moving cannonballs, and his reflexes match his remarkable speed. In the world of speed, he is a prince.

5 Laxus Dreyar, The Lighting Dragon Slayer (Fairy Tail)

Laxus Dreyar, the lightning dragon slayer, is another character who is better known for his hitting power and endurance than sheer speed, though he is indeed quick when he needs to be. In battle, Laxus can keep pace with most foes while delivering heavy melee and lightning attacks, and that's just the start.

Like Admiral Kizaru, Laxus can turn his body into his element; in this case, lightning. Like a lightning bolt, Laxus can move with incredible speed to get into position or chase a fleeing enemy, and the Flash is something of a lightning user himself (with that trail he leaves behind while running). The race is on.

4 Ludociel, The Archangel (The Seven Deadly Sins)

The great archangel Ludociel can turn the tide of battle all by himself. He is the strongest of the four archangels, and even the Ten Commandments, the demon king's best warriors, all fear him. Ludociel can fly on his angelic wings, wield a sword, and use Ark magic, among other abilities.

Meanwhile, Ludociel also has a Grace ability known as Flash, making him yet another fast-moving fictional character to use that term. When Ludociel uses it, he moves quicker than any holy knight or demon can see, and can take his enemies by total surprise. The Flash just got a new rival.

3 Burter Of The Ginyu Force (Dragon Ball Z/Super)

This franchise is legendary for the planet-shattering strength of some of its characters, but they aren't all slow, lumbering brutes. Many heroes and villains alike have the speed to match their power, and Burter of the Ginyu Force is a fine example of that.

Burter once boasted that he's the fastest being in the universe, and he's not entirely wrong. He earned the nickname Blue Hurricane, and he can use that astonishing speed to deliver hard-hitting attacks such as High-Speed Rush and the Mach Kick.

2 Koro-Sensei, The Extraterrestrial Teacher (Assassination Classroom)

For the most part, the alien called Koro would rather use his talents to educate and mentor his students, but he's capable of incredible feats of self-defense, most of them based on his superhuman speed. Koro's tentacle-arms can move in a blur to deflect bullets and other projectiles, and that's just scratching the surface.

If he must, Koro can travel to the moon and back in very little time, moving at Mach 20 to outpace any vehicle or projectile the human race can throw at him. With speed like that, the Flash had better watch his back.

1 Isaac Netero, Who Gets Better With Age (Hunter X Hunter)

Nen abilities vary greatly, and Issac Netero mainly uses his nen for martial arts and astonishing feats of speed. This old man aged gracefully, and Gon and Killua could hardly believe how fast Isaac moves, even when Isaac is taking things lightly.

Isaac can deliver punches quicker than the speed of sound, and in dashes and sprints, Gon struggled to keep up with Isaac's casual speed. If Isaac gets serious, then the Flash will have to get pretty serious, too.
