There are various definitions for the word "strength," whether it's physical, mental, or spiritual. Regardless, anime is filled with tons of characters who each have their own unique strengths, but a lot of them have weaknesses to go along with them, even outnumbering the strengths in some cases.
Despite what that may sound like, having weaknesses does not always mean the character is weak. There are plenty of strong anime characters who have more than one weakness, just as there are plenty of unlucky ones who are bogged down by their many weaknesses. If nothing else, it proves that everyone has their own kryptonite, in a matter of speaking.
10 Inuyasha: "Sit, Boy!" + More (Inuyasha)
Despite being half-demon, Inuyasha has triumphed over full-fledged demons time and time again, so he's definitely proven that he can rise to the occasion. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks to being only half a demon among other things.
For starters, Inuyasha loses his demon powers and becomes completely human every new moon. To the opposite effect, Inuyasha's blood can turn into a full-fledged demon, but it causes him to go out of control. Most famously of course is his weakness to spiritual power, like Kikyo's arrows or the beads of subjugation which cause him to faceplant whenever Kagome shouts, "Sit boy!"
9 Perona: Devil Fruit Weaknesses, Negative Personalities, & Cockroaches (One Piece)
The Devil Fruits of One Piece can grant all who eat one with incredible powers, at the cost of their ability to swim. Perona is no different, having eaten the Hollow-Hollow fruit which gave her the ability to summon ghosts that are immune to physical attacks and can put anyone into a state of negativity.
Despite this, Perona has more than just the ocean as her weakness. The "Negative Hollows" are completely ineffective against someone with a negative personality (like Usopp), and on top of this, she's also deathly afraid of cockroaches, to the point where she faints at even the sight of fake ones.
8 Mineta: Fear, Quirk Limits, & His Own Hormones (My Hero Academia)
It seems that there's a cost that comes with power for those with quirks in the My Hero Academia world. Many of the series' characters have limits or weaknesses when using their quirks, though it also takes a special kind of physical and mental fortitude to overcome those shortcomings. Minoru Mineta does not have that.
Mineta's "Pop Off" quirk lets him pull sticky balls from atop his head, but pulling too many will cause him to bleed from his scalp, and the effectiveness also depends on his health. If that wasn't enough, Mineta's questionable behavior holds him back as a hero since he's a major coward and, most infamously, a big pervert whose hormones get the better of him nine times out of ten.
7 Goku: Surprisingly, A Lot of Things (Dragon Ball)
Goku is known to many anime fans as one of the strongest anime heroes of all time, consistently annihilating every limit in his way time and time again. However, Goku is not invincible and despite all his strengths, and he surprisingly has more than just a few weaknesses.
His other forms drain a large amount of energy, his need for battle causes him to make big mistakes, and his habit of fighting foes at their best has often blown up in his face. Outside of battle Goku's lack of common sense or knowledge often gets him into trouble, he's got a fear of needles, and of course, he's weakened on an empty stomach. Goku's tail was also a big weak spot back in the old days.
6 Senku: Anything Outside of Science (Dr. Stone)
When it comes to science, Senku Ishigami is a genius even in a world that's gone back to the stone age. His knowledge has pulled off some incredible things even with the lack of technology and resources from thousands of years ago. While Senku's mind is his greatest strength, his weakness is just about everything else.
On top of poor social skills and a knack for bad luck, Senku's physical abilities are incredibly weak as he gets winded almost immediately during any kind of physical activity. While he's not the worst when working with his hands, his craftmanship has also been considered average at best and his cooking skills are not great either even though he knows all the steps.
5 Kazuma's Team: The Worst Adventure Party Ever (KonoSuba)
After being reincarnated and sent to another world, any hero would need to have the best team of warriors and mystics to help them save it. Unfortunately for Kazuma, he got this team of screwups and misfits instead, making for the worst party of adventurers ever.
Between Kazuma's bad luck and scummy tendencies, Darkness's extreme masochism with her inability to hit anything, Megumin's inability to move after using her one and only spell, and Aqua being 100% useless, this team can be counted as one bumbling unit made up of few strengths and almost all weakness.
4 Mumen Rider: Being Incredibly Outclassed (One-Punch Man)
Mumen Rider is a hero who has a strong spirit and, to give credit where credit's due, is very physically fit thanks to all the bike riding he does. Unfortunately despite all that, poor Mumen Rider lives in a city that's prone to frequent attacks at the hands of powerful monsters, which easily outclass him at every turn.
Mumen Rider pretty loses every fight he's in, not from a lack of trying, but because he's a normal guy who bites off way more than he can chew. While his will to fight is admirable, it also contributes to how badly he gets beat since he can't even leave a scratch on the enemies he fights.
3 Magikarp: No Offense Or Defense (Pokémon)
Any Pokémon in the anime, big or small, can be strong if they put their mind to it. However, out of all the many Pokémon that exist, there's one that's known for having zero strengths and pretty much only weaknesses. Magikarp is famous for only one thing—being incredibly useless.
With attacks that do no damage and paper-thin defense, the only thing Magikarp is capable of is flopping around. It's also implied that Magikarp is easy prey for many other Pokémon, like Pidgeotto. Until it becomes Gyarados, just about anything can beat Magikarp without even trying.
2 Yamcha: The Increasing Power Gap Between Him & His Fellow Fighters (Dragon Ball)
In the beginning, Yamcha was a formidable fighter and ally for Goku and friends, whose only weakness was being unable to be around or talk to women. As time went on though, Yamcha's biggest and most far-reaching weakness would show itself, the ever-widening power gap that he could never close.
Pretty much from Dragon Ball Z and onward, Yamcha becomes more and more useless in a fight to the point where the Z Warriors stop even inviting him to tag along. This can be in part to his refusal to accept his own weaknesses and improve, which seems to have contributed to him becoming irrelevant.
1 Subaru: Basically Anything (Re:Zero)
Most isekai heroes end up being sent to other worlds with overwhelming strength or some kind 0f overpowered ability, Subaru Natsuki was not. Subaru does get transported to another world with power only he had, it's just that his power was to come back to life, resetting up to a certain point in time, whenever he dies.
Lacking any physical power, mental stability, and the ability to use mana the way that others in this world can, Subaru is vulnerable to continuously suffer and die in plenty of nasty ways. The very world around Subaru himself is his weakness.
