Many people believe that the Justice League movie was introduced too early in the DCEU. The original seven Justice League members from the comics didn’t even all get origin movies before this team-up film was brought into the franchise. Not only that but countless other characters from DC Comics haven’t been introduced yet in the DCEU.
While Zack Snyder’s Justice League is four hours long and introduces a few more characters than the first Justice League version did, there are so many more who should have appeared. In fact, there are at least ten DC characters who undoubtedly should have been in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
10 Dick Grayson Should Still Be Around
When Batman was first introduced to the DCEU in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he was further along in his timeline than people had been expecting. Because Clark Kent was at the beginning of his career as Superman, audiences anticipated the same to be true for other heroes like Bruce Wayne’s Batman.
However, Batman had actually been active for around twenty years by that point in canon. Not only that but one of his Robins had already been killed. While it’s usually Jason Todd that dies, this time, it was Dick Grayson who died. Dick should still be alive in the universe, and the fact that he didn’t appear at all is still upsetting fans, who were hoping he could be saved for the franchise still.
9 Jason Todd Could Be The New Robin
If Dick Grayson has already been killed in the DCEU and there aren’t intentions to bring him back, fans are beginning to expect that a different Robin may be introduced. There are multiple options for potential Robins to be brought into the franchise.
Because Jason Todd is usually the Robin that dies, but Dick died this time, audiences wonder if Jason might be the Robin to survive in the DCEU. While Dick would be a great choice, Jason would be a logical next choice if he can't show up. However, neither of the adoptive brothers appeared in the film, though they should have.
8 Hal Jordan Was A Founding Member Of The League
There were seven original founding members of the Justice League in the original comics. Most of them were present in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but one was notably missing: Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern.
Five of the other founding members — Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman, and The Flash — all appeared as team members. Besides, even Martian Manhunter showed up in the Snyder Cut. However, Green Lantern still isn’t around, though a Power Ring was shown in the film.
7 John Stewart Was Cast For The Snyder Cut
If any Green Lantern character were going to appear in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, likely, he would not have even been Hal Jordan. While Hal Jordan was the original Green Lantern, Zack Snyder wanted to bring in John Stewart, specifically the character. In fact, Zack Snyder even went so far as to cast Wayne T. Carr in the role.
He said that he filmed a scene in his own driveway with Wayne T. Carr but ultimately wasn’t allowed to use the footage in the film. John Stewart undoubtedly should have appeared in the movie, but, in the end, Snyder wasn’t permitted to include him.
6 Jimmy Olsen Could Have Been Revived
A major problem that the DCEU has had throughout the franchise is introducing some characters either too early or too late. In contrast, other characters are eliminated before they even get a chance to shine. Jimmy Olsen, tragically, falls into the latter category.
The character was only fleetingly introduced as a new acquaintance of Lois Lane’s before it was revealed that he was using her for her credentials. He was killed almost instantly and never got to come back. Jimmy is one of Superman’s best friends, and the fact that he wasn’t salvaged in any way in the Snyder Cut feels like an unfortunate oversight.
5 Shayera Hol Is A Fan-Favorite League Member
The original seven founding members of the Justice League aren’t the only teammates people love or think of from the League. There are countless other superheroes that fans enjoy that could have easily been a part of Zack Snyder’s Justice League team but, ultimately, didn’t appear. One of those heroes is Shayera Hol, also known as Hawkgirl.
Hawkgirl is a popular member of the Justice League team in the comics and is incredibly well-liked in the DC Animated Universe, or DCAU, as a part of that same team. However, she took Black Canary’s place on the team and was modified slightly to fit into the show. Any version of Hawkgirl could’ve been great in the Snyder Cut.
4 Dinah Lance Is Already In The DCEU
Dinah Lance, also known as the Black Canary, may have been replaced by Hawkgirl in the DCAU, but she’s since made her debut in the DCEU, as well. The DCEU movie Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) introduced Dinah Lance to the franchise, and so she could have appeared in the Snyder Cut, as well.
Black Canary and many other characters are heroes—or hero-adjacents—who were close enough to help out during Zack Snyder’s Justice League potentially. Her lack of appearance in the film is unfortunate when considered in this regard.
3 Oliver Queen Goes Where Dinah Lance Is
If Dinah Lance is around, then it is likely that Oliver Queen is not so far behind. Oliver Queen, also known as the Green Arrow, is another superhero that many people commonly associate with the Justice League. He’s a Robin Hood-esque hero who used to be a fun playboy and now wants to use his archery abilities to do good.
In essence, he used to be who Bruce Wayne pretends to be, but he’s since become a superhero. Such a character would have fit perfectly into the Snyder Cut, and fans are just waiting for his inevitable arrival to the DCEU.
2 Sinestro Could Have Been A Great Villain
It was actually surprising to many fans that Zack Snyder wasn’t able to bring Green Lantern into Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Most audiences were hoping that the “Unite the Seven” marketing would finally build up to something. While everybody does truly love Cyborg, it was unfortunate not to have the Green Lantern present anywhere.
If the Green Lantern had been there — either Hal Jordan or John Stewart (or even both) — then Sinestro would have been the ideal villain to use for the movie. The film’s scope is huge as is, and Sinestro could have been the perfect one to balance it all out.
1 Ra’s Al Ghul Would Have Grounded Batman A Bit More
Because the scope of Zack Snyder’s Justice League and the original version, Justice League, is so immense, it’s easy to get lost in the story. However, had the film’s scope and narrative been slightly smaller, more people may have felt slightly clearer on what was going on.
As such, it would have been a great choice to include Ra’s al Ghul in the film. This could have helped to reintroduce Bruce Wayne as a fully-fledged character and correct him in several ways that were originally fumbled in the first cut.
