2021 DC/Marvel Television Series Tournament - The Winner! | CBR

Welcome to the 12th Annual CSBG DC/Marvel Character Tournament!

This time around, you will be voting for your favorite DC or Marvel live action television series and TV movies. Amusingly, this was also going to be the tournament last year, so the delay has changed the list dramatically, as WandaVision, Superman and Lois and Stargirl all debuted AFTER last March! Notably, though, I will not be including Falcon and Winter Soldier, as there have only been two episodes released so far in its first (only?) season, so that seems like too little to actually cover for something like this.

The rankings were mostly determined by the use of IMDB user reviews, which turned out to be EERILY in line with the voters back in 2019 when we did superhero cartoons (the first time I can recall a tournament where all four #1 seeds made it to the Final Four). This time around, I made a few more changes, as it was just way too unreasonable for Batwoman, for instance, to be the lowest rated show out of ALL of the shows listed. So I made some judgment calls occasionally with the rankings.

After the shows were all ranked, they were split into four different regions. In the early rounds, we did two regions a day.

I've decided to show the results of each of the rounds here, leading to the finals! I'll go per Region and per round!

Okay, so that gave us the following final four.

WandaVision, the #1 seed in the region.

Daredevil, the #1 seed in the region.

Watchmen, the #1 seed in the region and the OVERALL #1 seed in the tournament.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the #7 seed in the region (its seed was hurt by its really bad showings in its first two seasons, which is where most of the IMDB ratings come from). The Flash, for what it is worth, was the fourth-ranked of the four #1 seeds, so it presumably was the most susceptible to an upset.

Then the Final Four occurred.

Daredevil defeated WandaVision, 57% to 43%.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow rallied behind a strong show of force by Legends fans (is there a name for fans of the Legends?) who really came out in force to turn around an initial deficit almost 180 degrees, with Legends defeating Watchmen, 67% to 33%.

So that brought us to a final of Daredevil vs. DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Appropriately enough, a Marvel show vs. a DC show. Who pulled it out? Would DC's Legends of Tomorrow's Cinderella season continue or would the Devil of Hell's Kitchen take it down?
