Falcon and Winter Soldier: Julia Louis-Dreyfus Reveals How She Snuck On-Set

WARNING: The following contains minor spoilers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's finale, "One World, One People," streaming now on Disney+.

In "Truth," last week's penultimate episode of Marvel Studios' Disney+ original series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Julia Louis-Dreyfus made a surprise appearance as the Marvel Comics character La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine (or "Val" for short), with the character returning for today's finale, "One World, One People." A new behind-the-scenes video shows how Louis-Dreyfus was snuck on-set in order to keep her involvement a secret.

Louis-Dreyfus shared the video in question to her personal Twitter account. In it, she is seen donning a long, black cloak that wouldn't look out of place in a Star Wars film. "They snuck me onto set every day in this stunning hooded cloak," the actor wrote. "I have worn it every day since. Obviously."

Created by Jim Steranko, Valentina first appeared in 1967's Strange Tales #159. In the comics, she has ties to Leviathan -- a formerly Soviet-based espionage group -- and even assumed the mantle of Madame Hydra at one point. Valentina was previously played in live-action by Lisa Rinna in the 1998 television movie Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.. There is much speculation regarding what the future holds for Louis-Dreyfus's version of the character, with some postulating that Valentina will play a key role in bringing the Dark Avengers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, become something of a Nick Fury-esque figure to the twisted "superhero" team.

Following Valentina's MCU debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 5, Vanity Fair reported that Louis-Dreyfus was actually supposed to make her first appearance as the character in Marvel Studios' first Phase Four film, Black Widow. However, this changed when delays pushed Black Widow's premiere to after the release of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It is currently unclear if Valentina will still appear in Black Widow, though at any rate, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9. It will also be the first Marvel Studios film to premiere on Disney+ with Premier Access.
