FXX To Celebrate the Oscars With Two-Day Simpsons Marathon | CBR

With the 93rd Academy Awards set to air on ABC next Sunday, April 25, Disney is hosting a number of events to help promote the ceremony -- including a two-day Simpsons marathon on FXX.

Per Variety, Disney's Oscars celebration begins tonight on ABC with a special episode of American Idol, on which the show's 12 top contestants will perform various Oscar-nominated songs from the past. American Idol judge Lionel Richie will kick off the episode with a performance of "Say You, Say Me," which was featured in the 1985 film White Nights and earned Richie the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 58th Academy Awards in 1986.

FX Networks will play a big part in Disney's promotion for this year's Oscars. Between April 19 and April 25, FXM and its FXM Retro block will host a "Week of Oscars" lineup, featuring numerous Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning films from the past. FX itself will also host a three-day marathon of Oscar-nominated/winning films next weekend.

Then, over on FXX, the aforementioned two-day marathon of The Simpsons kicks off on April 24. It will feature Simpsons episodes that are parodies of Oscar-nominated/winning films, feature guest appearances by Oscar-nominated/winning performers, or are parodies of red carpet events. The marathon will conclude with the 2012 Simpsons short The Longest Daycare, which was itself nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film at the 85th Academy Awards in 2013.

Meanwhile, Freeform is hosting its own marathon of Oscar-nominated/winning films over the weekend of April 24, with a focus on animated Disney and Pixar features. The lineup includes Lilo & Stitch, Finding Nemo, Up, Coco, Toy Story 3 and Monsters Inc., as well as the live-action film Mary Poppins.
