J. Scott Campbell Wonder Girl Variant Highlights the DC Hero's Legacy

DC Comics has revealed artist J. Scott Campbell's 1:25 variant cover for May's Wonder Girl #1 -- which stars the new Wonder Girl, Yara Flor, while also paying homage to her predecessors.

Campbell's Wonder Girl #1 variant sees Yara Flor standing front and center, reaching for her sword. Meanwhile, in the background, Donna Troy -- the original Wonder Girl and a founding member of the Teen Titans -- can be seen in the top-left corner. Just below Donna is the second Wonder Girl, Cassie Sandsmark, of Young Justice fame. Then, Wonder Woman herself, Diana Prince, can be spotted in the top-right corner. Finally, the bottom-right corner is occupied by none other than Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons.

A hero of Brazilian heritage, Yara starred as the Wonder Woman of the future in the two-part limited series Future State: Wonder Woman, published as part of DC's two-month Future State event -- which offered a look into the possible future of the DC universe. Following Future State, Yara is set to join the main DC continuity as the new Wonder Girl under the publisher's Infinite Frontier banner.

Written and illustrated by Joëlle Jones with colors by Jordie Bellaire, Wonder Girl #1 goes on sale May 18 from DC Comics. The full solicitation information, as well as Jones' main cover and Bilquis Evely's variant, can be found below.
