WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 6, "One World, One People," now streaming on Disney+.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus' role as Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is only just getting started.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios executive producer Nate Moore discussed whether Louis-Dreyfus was interested in returning to the MCU. "One hundred percent," said Moore. "She's so talented and you can do so much with her. And she's game for it. She certainly didn't come to us and say, 'I'll be in one show once.' She was like, 'I want to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.' And we said, 'Great! Let's get you in and let's figure out how to use you.' And the truth is, I think you will see her in the future. Definitely."
In Episode 5, "Truth," the fallout from John Walker's stint as Captain America is shown. His public execution of a Flag-Smasher forces the government to discharge him and strip him of the title, putting him right in Valentina's line of sight. In Episode 6, "One World, One People," Walker refuses to relinquish the role of Cap immediately and attempts to stop the Flag-Smashers' attack on the GRC along with Sam Wilson, who claimed the Captain America title and the shield from Walker, and Winter Soldier. By the end of the series, Walker concedes and is given a new uniform and name by Valentina: U.S. Agent.
There has been speculation about Valentina's ultimate plans. Rumors that she's building a Thunderbolts team or the Dark Avengers, or preparing for a possible confrontation with Nick Fury in the upcoming Secret Invasion series, have been proposed, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The entire first season is available to stream on Disney+.
