Witch Josie Saltzman comes face-to-face with her biggest nemesis -- her dark alter ego Dark Josie -- in the latest promo for the upcoming episode of Legacies.
In a promo for Season 3, Episode 11, "You Can't Run From Who You Are," Dark Josie surprises Josie in her room, saying, "Miss me?" The promo flashes footage of the pair's last fight before a shocked Josie asks her, "How is this possible? I destroyed you with an ax!"
The teaser ends with Dark Josie explaining, "Here I am. Deep down, you must want to hear what I have to say."
Dark Josie was first introduced in Season 2, when Professor Vardemus -- Malivore's son in disguise -- tricked her into using dark magic. Dark Josie caused a bunch of trouble at The Salvatore School, including killing Alyssa Chang at Josie and Lizzie's 17th birthday party.
Josie seemingly killed Dark Josie in Legacies Season 2 finale. In "Facing Darkness Is Kinda My Thing," Josie confronted Dark Josie in a fairytale world that existed within Josie’s subconscious. After telling her dark doppelgänger that she was no longer "afraid of being strong," Josie removed Dark Josie's weapons and armor and attacked her with an ax.
While Dark Josie appeared to be gone for good, it was teased that Dark Josie might return when Hope tried to convince Josie to use dark magic in Season 3, Episode 8 in hopes that she could help find Landon. While Landon eventually made it back without Josie having to tap into her magic, Hope's attempt created a huge divide between her and the Saltzman twins.
Ahead of Season 3's premiere, Legacies producer Brett Matthews hinted that the aftermath of Dark Josie's reign of terror would come to the surface in the near future. "You'll see that play out pretty directly," he stated. "It's obviously a hugely traumatic event in her life and now that it's over and she's more herself, she will have to reckon with the actions that she took."
Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Quincy Fouse, Aria Shahghasemi, Peyton Alex Smith, Matt Davis, Chris Lee, Ben Levin and Leo Howard. New episodes return on May 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
