During the events of "One World, One People," Sam finally accepted the mantle of Captain America and intercepted the Flag-Smashers's attempt to kill the members of the Global Repatriation Council. Though Sam attempted to talk down the Flag-Smashers' leader Karli Morgenthau, she was fatally wounded by Sharon Carter. Sam also managed to have a statue erected that paid tribute to the first Black super-soldier, Isaiah Bradley after a discussion about his adoption of the Captain America mantle.
