Simu Liu Shares Fan-Made Shang-Chi/Kim's Convenience Mash-Up

Shortly after Simu Liu's birthday -- which ended in Marvel Studios surprising him with a Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings trailer debut -- a fan made a Shang-Chi-themed poster paying homage to the starring cast of the CBC's sitcom Kim's Convenience.

Liu shared the fan-made poster with fans on Twitter, noting, "Okay which one of you geniuses did this." Prior to landing the starring role of Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Liu starred as Jung in Kim's Convenience, which ended in April 2021.

The CBC sitcom ran for five seasons total and Kim's Convenience's cancellation was announced by the show's creative team in March 2021. Upon initially hearing the news of the show's cancellation, Liu stated, "Disappointing news today. I’m heartbroken. I feel like my journey with Jung was cut short. I feel like you, the fans, deserved better. But I’m proud of all that we accomplished together in 5 seasons."

On April 12, Liu shared a little bit more about his perspective on the CBC show's recent cancellation on Twitter, noting, "On the eve of what is now to be the series finale of Kim's Convenience, I hoped I'd be at a point where I could speak about it with a clear head. But the truth is I'm still pretty f**king angry... I have thoughts about our 'cancellation', and they come with tea and receipts. For now, they will remain in my head."

Liu starred as Jung in Kim's Convenience, a man in his mid-20s who works at Toronto's Handy Car Rental and struggles to get along with his Appa -- due to his high standards and troubles communicating with him. After briefly turning to a life of juvenile crime, Jung became a well-rounded adult, but still holds a grudge against his Appa.
