Tom Taylor is assuring fans that his Superman: Son of Kal-El series will address one of Jon Kent's most important relationships.
Taylor posted a follow-up message to the official series announcement on Twitter, clarifying that Jon's friendship with Damien Wayne will be a major focus of the series. "Wanted to assure #Supersons fans (one being myself) their friendship will not be ignored in our #Superman series," Taylor wrote. "While Jon is older they still have the same age gap -- just flipped. Jon is 17. Damian is 14."
Initially standoffish toward one another, Jon and Damian formed a fast friendship during a mission with their respective fathers. Damian is set to take center stage in a new Robin series from Joshua Williamson and Gleb Melnikov, which sees him taking on the deadliest fighters in the DC Universe as part of the Lazarus Tournament.
Superman: Son of Kal-El will feature Jon Kent stepping into the role of Superman as part of the Infinite Frontier initiative. Taylor and artist John Timms will serve as the creative team on the series, replacing the main Superman title currently written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Sean Lewis with art by Scott Godlewski and Sami Basri.
Superman: Son of Kal-El #1 goes on sale on July 13 from DC.
