The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun Boards Jordan Peele's Mystery Project

The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun has been added to the cast of the next directorial effort from Get Out writer/director Jordan Peele.

According to Variety, Yeun is set to star in the film, which is shrouded in mystery right down to what genre it will occupy. However, it is known that Yeun joins a cast that already includes Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya, while the project itself is part of a five-year feature deal Peele made with Universal at the end of 2019.

Though his breakthrough role was playing Glenn Rhee on The Walking Dead, Yeun's career goes far beyond that. Yeun has also had significant roles in acclaimed movies such as Sorry to Bother You, Burning and Okja. He also garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his lead performance in Minari and also recently provided the voice of the protagonist of the animated superhero program Invincible.

Writer/director Jordan Peele has seen a similar creative renaissance in recent years. Following his work as a performer on the sketch comedy show Key & Peele, Peele went on to write and direct the sleeper hit Get Out, which grossed $225.2 million worldwide and scored numerous Oscar nominations, including one for Best Picture. His follow-up directorial effort, Us, was similarly lucrative with a $225.5 million worldwide gross.

Jordan Peele's next untitled directorial effort will star Keke Palmer, Daniel Kaluuya and Steven Yeun and will be released in theaters on July 22, 2022.
