10 Anime Villains Who Became Overpowered With Time | CBR

Villains are a very important but often underrated aspect of most anime series, seeing how their characterizations can often make or break the anime that they’re in. Their primary function is to serve as a foil for the hero or heroine and they are often shown as extremely powerful characters who are usually just born that way.

However, in rare cases, villains start off as being weak and they become powerful usually through their actions and battles. In fact, their increase in power parallels the MC’s increased powers through sheer hard work and training.

10 Yukiteru: A Regular Boy Who Became The God Of Time & Space (Future Diary)

Yuki started off as a regular teenage boy who got caught in Dues Ex Machina’s survival game. He started off with wanting to win the game but ended up wanting to become the next God in order to bring back his dead parents.

Due to this, he resorted to manipulating, using, and even killing people to get what he wanted, even after being told the dead can’t be brought back to life. Ultimately, he became the next God Of Time And Space.

9 Nanami: She Became So Strong That Her Body Couldn’t Handle Her Abilities (Katanagatari)

Despite having a frail body that was prone to illness, Nanami was a force to be reckoned with. Right from her childhood, she trained herself by simply observing her father teach martial arts to her brother. She grew up to be much stronger than her brother, Shichika, and defeated him easily in several one-on-one battles.

In her final battle, she had grown so strong and accumulated so many powers and techniques that her body started degenerating because it was unable to hold so many powers inside it.

8 Moral: Injected Himself With The Forbidden Minimum Power (Hamatora)

He accumulated two Minimum powers, becoming the strongest and most fearsome Minimum holder in the world until his body eventually began dying because it couldn’t contain two powers inside it.

7 Kureto: Controlled An Angel Through His Magic-Science Experiments (Seraph Of The End)

6 Frill: This AI Is The One Forcing Innocent Girls To Commit Suicide (Wonder Egg Priority)

Frill was created as a sweet 14-year-old girl, but she ended up murdering Acca’s wife due to which she was confined within a box inside the basement.

Although the anime doesn’t explain how she did it, Frill became strong enough to not only make contact with Acca’s daughter, Himari, but managed to influence her to commit suicide. She did not stop there –she ended up exploiting the sadness of other vulnerable girls, pushing them to kill themselves, due to which Acca and Ura-Acca were forced to create the Egg World in order to protect such girls.

With the passage of time, he gained exceptional powers like immortality by sacrificing the Xerxians, inherited the knowledge of the Eye, created homunculi, and eventually became strong enough to create a tiny sun in the palm of his hand.
