Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania might resurrect a long-thought dead (or at least fatally lost in the Quantum realm) villain from Marvel Cinematic Universe's Ant-Man.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne/Wasp in the MCU) shared her Quantamania script and tagged several actors involved in the Ant-Man films. However, one of the tagged actors was Corey Stoll, who portrayed Darren Cross/Yellowjacket in 2015's Ant-Man, but whose character hasn't been seen since, as reported by ComicBook.com.
During the events of Ant-Man, Cross was attempting to harness the powerful Pym Particles, which Hank Pym invented to shrink and enlarge matter. Cross eventually donned the armored Yellowjacket suit and fought Scott Lang. However, Scott destroyed the technology in Cross's suit, which caused Cross to become infinitely smaller. Some fans speculated that he died, whereas others believed he was shrunk into the Quantum Realm.
In 2018, director Peyton Reed teased that Cross might be alive, telling MovieWeb, "If you watch his death in the first Ant-Man, the suit is compromised... He shrinks and goes into a thing. I mean, he could be somewhere down there in that Quantum Realm."
Filming on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is currently underway at Pinewood Studios, with director Peyton Reed utilizing the same StageCraft technology he used to film an episode within Season 2 of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/The Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. The film arrives in theaters Feb. 17, 2023.
