Vin Diesel's extreme sports/espionage film xXx is best known for its over-the-top action sequences. However, a viral post on Twitter has brought up a different kind of drama with an unlikely piece of merchandise from the film.
YouTuber Christiaan Van Vuuren wrote on Twitter, "A friend of mine found a locked safe buried underground 5 years ago. For 5 years there has been anticipation over what might be inside it. Today, he finally opened that safe, and within it, was a single xXx condom...As in a branded condom, from the 2002 movie starring Vin Diesel!" Van Vuuren also posted pictures of the condom, along with his friend using a circular power saw to open a safe.
xXx featured Diesel as extreme sports professional Xander Cage, who is recruited by the NSA to stop a Russian terrorist group from launching a biochemical weapon against the United States. It reunited Diesel with director Rob Cohen and producer Neal H. Moritz, who worked on the first Fast and the Furious film. After sitting out a 2005 sequel to xXx, Diesel reprised his role in 2017's xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and plans to return for a fourth xXx film with The Return of Xander Cage director D.J. Caruso.
Diesel will also reprise his role as Dominic "Dom" Toretto in F9. Directed by Justin Lin, F9 also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron. The film arrives in theaters June 25.
