Charmed's latest episode finally sees Joséfina receiving her magical powers.
In Season 3, Episode 11, "Witchful Thinking," Joséfina rebuilds the Book of Shadows and uses a spell to awaken her magical powers -- which turns out to be rooted in controlling nature. Charmed star Mareya Salazar shared her feelings about Joséfina finally accessing her powers to CBR, stating, "It's so rewarding. It's so empowering. It's so exciting to see."
She continued, "You do so much imagination work in the studio, but, when you actually see it come alive on screen, it's just so rewarding. And I mean, I'm so happy for Joséfina that she finally gets her powers and its nature powers?! Like it's so exciting. I'm really excited about that power specifically because my mother and I actually every summer we always have a little garden in our backyard or we always have plants growing in our house. So it was almost as it was meant to be, for sure. These powers are meant to be for me, for Joséfina, for everything."
Salazar's Joséfina debuted in Season 3, Episode 9, "No Hablo Brujeria," which saw The Charmed Ones meeting their estranged cousin for the first time. Then, they learn that not only did their mother steal The Book of Shadows from their Puerto Rican side of the family but also that their cousin is a transwoman and needs their help to awaken her witch powers.
Ultimately, their cousin ends up finds her powers herself. Through rebuilding the lost Book of Shadows -- merging both The Charmed One's magic with their family's Brujeria -- she finds the spell she needs and uses it to activate the power she's had all along. Episode 11 ends with Joséfina deciding to return home to Puerto Rico to attend college.
