Crunchyroll and Sentai Filmworks Announce New Anime Home Video Releases

Crunchyroll and Sentai Filmworks are once again teaming up to bring several anime series to home video.

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll announced that its continued partnership with anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks would bring several more popular anime series to home video. The announced slate of anime includes hit series like Haikyu!! To the Top, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, and My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, as well as Crunchyroll original anime Noblesse and Onyx Equinox. Crunchyroll confirmed that these series will all be available in the United States and Canada in some combination of DVD, Blu-ray and digital download releases, and will include a mix of subtitled and English-dubbed content.

The full slate of anime which will receive home video releases includes the fourth season of popular volleyball anime Haikyu!!, the Isekai anime I'm Standing on a Million Lives and My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, the critically acclaimed and barrier-breaking Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, the comedy-fantasy series Monster Girl Doctor, the romantic drama Rent-A-Girlfriend, the rom-com Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It, the fantasy slice-of-life Somali and the Forest Spirit, and Crunchyroll originals Noblesse and Onyx Equinox. The comedy-fantasy series Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun, which recently received an English dub from Crunchyroll for its second season, will also receive a home video release.

Co-produced by WEBTOON and Crunchyroll and based on a South Korean manhwa, Noblesse joins Onyx Equinox, a Mexican-American original animated series, as a representation of how international the anime industry is becoming, partly due to Crunchyroll's recent ventures and influence. One of the most successful manhwa, Noblesse offers a unique take on the story of Frankenstein, as well as the traditional vampire narrative. Onyx Equinox further diversifies animated series' typical subject matter, telling a story within the framework of Mesoamerican mythology that will pit a mortal slave against the god of the underworld.

Crunchyroll and Sentai Filmworks previously announced their partnership and intent to bring anime to home video at last year's Virtual Crunchyroll Expo, where they revealed Food Wars! The Fourth Plate, Ascendance of a Bookworm, Granbelm and World Trigger would be distributed on home video. Blu-rays of those four titles are all currently available for sale on Sentai's website. Sentai Filmworks also recently announced it had acquired the rights to distribute 2019's acclaimed historical anime series Vinland Saga for home video. Both a standard and collector's edition of Vinland Saga are scheduled to release sometime this summer.
