Echolands: Award-Winning Batwoman Team Launches New Image Series

Image Comics plans to launch the long-awaited Echolands series this summer.

Written by J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman and illustrated by Williams, Echolands follows the thief Hope Redhood and her crew as they attempt to stay one step ahead of a mad wizard and his daughter. In the process Hope steals a gem that happens to be a key to unlocking the truth behind her world's mystery. In addition to featuring "career-defining artwork" and a "memorable story," each issue of the series will offer a "Raw Cut" edition, spotlighting Williams' rough artwork.

Williams and Blackman have collaborated on other comic book works, most notably Batwoman.

"I’m beyond excited we’re finally bringing Echolands to everyone, and incredibly stoked to be reunited with longtime creative partners Haden, Dave, and Todd, for what is a vast challenging world building project unlike any other we’ve attempted before," said Williams. "It’s a lifelong dream years in development, featuring an amazing cast of characters that we believe you’ll love as much as we do. And we’re so proud to be under the welcoming Image Comics banner, the premiere publisher for innovative entertaining stories."

"Echolands has been over a decade in the making, but I can still vividly remember my first call with Jim about the concept," Blackman added. "What began as a story about a thief on the run from an evil Wizard has evolved into a worlds-spanning adventure with a cast that includes everything from vampires to classic gangsters. Image is the perfect home for this eclectic project, and I'm thrilled that we’re finally able to share Hope’s journey."

Written by J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman and illustrated by Williams, Echolands #1 goes on sale on Aug. 25 from Image Comics.
