WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Legacies Season 3, Episode 13, "One Day You Will Understand," which aired Thursday on The CW.
Lizzie has been away from The Salvatore School for some time -- off at a retreat to gain a stronger awareness over her control issues after she almost ruined her sister's budding romance. However, Lizzie's absence is now arising concern from her twin sister Josie.
In a promo for Legacies upcoming episode, "This Feels a Little Cult-y," Josie is heard alerting Hope to the prospect that Lizzie's wellness retreat might be putting her in witchy danger.
During the clip, Hope and Josie are seen visiting a retreat that resembles 2019's Midsommar setting -- down to the maypole dancing and all. Adorned in loose-fitting clothing and draped in floral crowns, fellow witches are seen dancing in an idyllic field. However, Hope finds this all unsettling and confronts the witch leading the retreat. The clip then shows the lead witch placing her hand on Hope and saying, "You have extraordinary power. Let me try to help." Hope then replies, "I didn't say that you could touch me, but, I'm so glad you did."
In the background, viewers see a stunned Josie suddenly worrying that whatever has captured her sister's attention has just found its way to Hope as well, blurring her reality.
Season 3, Episode 13 last saw Hope facing a heartbreaking truth -- not only does she no longer feel connected to Landon, but he's decided that their relationship is over. The Season 3, Episode 14 promo clip teases that Hope's crushed feelings might also put her at risk to whatever magic is keeping Lizzie contained there as well or maybe it will help her heal.
Midsommar is a 2019 folk-horror film directed by Ari Aster. The film centers on an unhappy couple following their college friend to attend a mid-Summer festival in the small community in Scandanavia where he's from and has welcomed them to see -- a rarity in his community. However, the festival quickly takes a violent turn amongst the field of blooming flowers and pastel colors and hallucinogenic maypole dancing as the seemingly peaceful community turns out to be a pagan cult that doesn't look too kindly on disrespecting women or tradition.
Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Quincy Fouse, Aria Shahghasemi, Peyton Alex Smith, Matt Davis, Chris Lee, Ben Levin and Leo Howard. The CW show returns for new episodes on Thursday, June 10 at 9:00 pm ET/PT.
