Justin Jordan, co-creator of The Strange Talent of Luther Strode, shared what he could with fans about the upcoming live-action film adaptation of his hit comic series.
Jordan told CBR, "I'm still doing some revisions on the script, although it's pretty close and the tweaks are minor. We've been in talks with a director, so the project is moving along nicely." He concluded, "Which, sadly, is about all I can say publicly. But I'm happy."
The Strange Talent of Luther Strode debuted in 2011 and was published by Image Comics. The series was co-created by Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore with colors provided by Felipe Sobreiro. The series centers on its titular character, Luther Strode, who gains superhuman abilities but isn't exactly moral per se. Jordan and Moore have also collaborated on two sequel series -- 2012's The Legend of Luther Strode and 2015's The Legacy of Luther Strode.
In October 2020, it was announced that Jordan and Moore were producing a live-action film adaptation of their comic series. "Luther Strode remains one of my very favorite things I've ever worked on and getting the chance to bring it to a new audience as a film is exciting beyond belief," Jordan stated. "Especially since Allnighter is dedicated to staying true to all of the foundations -- from the tone to the mythology, and, of course, the kinetic action exemplified by Tradd’s artwork -- that people have loved about the comic."
At the time that the live-action film adaptation was announced, Image Comics Publisher & Chief Creative Officer Eric Stephenson stated, "The Strange Talent of Luther Strode is the type of pitch every publisher dreams of -- work by newcomers so anxious to make their mark that every page practically vibrates with indomitable confidence."
The Strange Talent of Luther Strode film will be produced by co-creators Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore, as well as Allnighter's Dinesh Shamdasani, Hunter Gorinson and Amanda Kruse. Jordan will also write the screenplay. At the time of this writing, no production start date has been announced.
Jordan most recently penned a prequel comic for the mobile role-playing game Summoners War. Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics' Summoners War: Legacy is set 35 years before the events of the hit game and follows a self-taught Summoner named Raiyeh Holder, who is desperately seeking a life full of adventure.
