One Piece: 5 Characters Yamato Can Defeat (& 5 He Can't) | CBR

The son of one of the Four Emperors, Kaido, Yamato is a character introduced quite late in the Onigashima section of One Piece's Wano Country arc. Being the son of the strongest creature in the story, it goes without saying that Yamato is a powerful character himself and has plenty of abilities up his sleeve that make him a threat to even some of the most fearsome fighters.

Throughout the course of the Onigashima war, Yamato has displayed countless abilities of his, with more to come in the upcoming events of the story.

10 CAN BEAT: Yamato Can Defeat The Numbers Without Much Trouble

The Numbers are failed attempts at recreating the Ancient Giants by the World Government. At some point, they were bought by Kaido from the government, and even though they highly lack intelligence, they're still quite powerful. The Numbers were strong enough to force Luffy to tap into Gear Fourth and even gave Franky Shogun some trouble. Yamato managed to defeat one with a single strike of his club, showing that he can beat any of them without breaking a sweat.

9 CAN'T: Yamato Can't Beat His Father, Kaido Of The Hundred Beasts

The strongest pirate alive, Kaido is one of the Four Emperors alongside Big Mom, Blackbeard, and Shanks in the story currently. Although Yamato is quite powerful and, judging by his techniques, has trained with his father in the past, however, the difference between him and his father is massive. Yamato would certainly be capable of putting up a fight against Kaido but defeating him is a different question altogether.

8 CAN BEAT: Yamato Can Beat Sasaki Of The Tobi Roppo

Sasaki of the Tobi Roppo is one of the strongest members of Kaido's Beasts Pirates and a user of an Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit, called the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Triceratops. He leads the defense corps of the Beasts Pirates and boasts quite a high durability. Interestingly, Sasaki and Yamato have already fought and he appeared to be rather scared of Kaido's son. Without even using his apparent Devil Fruit power, Yamato was able to strike fear into the former pirate captain.

7 CAN'T: Yamato Stands No Chance Against The Yonko Charlotte Linlin

Charlotte Linlin, also known as Big Mom, is another of the Four Emperors of the Sea, just like Kaido. In terms of power, Big Mom is portrayed to be every bit as ferocious as Kaido himself, as was evident from the fact that the two fought each other on equal footing from anywhere between 12 hours to 3 days.

For Yamato, taking on Big Mom might be possible due to his potential skills with Conqueror's Haki and Ryou. However, beating her is nigh impossible.

6 CAN BEAT: Yamato Can Defeat The Saber-Toothed Cat Who's Who

Portrayed to be the strongest of the Tobi Roppo of Kaido, Who's Who is a former pirate captain who joined Kaido at an unspecified time in the story. Like Sasaki, he has the powers of an Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit and his is the Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Saber-Toothed Cat. Who's Who is strong enough to fight against Jinbe of the Straw Hat Pirates, but given that he's in the same class of pirates as Sasaki, Yamato can take care of him in combat.

5 CAN'T: Yamato Cannot Defeat The Captain Of The Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy

The man who'll eventually go on to become the Pirate King, Luffy is the protagonist of One Piece and currently one of the strongest characters in the entire story. Having eaten the Gomu Gomu no Mi, Luffy's body has become rubber and it grants his various powerful abilities. Added to that is his advanced control over all the forms of Haki. Luffy is, without a doubt, stronger than Yamato and can't be taken down by him at the moment.

4 CAN BEAT: Yamato Can Defeat The Helmsman Of The Straw Hat Pirates, Jinbe

Also known as the Knight of the Sea, Jinbe is an incredibly powerful pirate who works under Luffy. In terms of power, Jinbe ranks directly below the likes of Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji.

When compared to Yamato, Jinbe is quite a match, but Yamato has great control over Haki and potentially a hold over advanced Conqueror's Haki as well. He's certainly strong enough to defeat Jinbe.

3 CAN'T: Yamato Cannot Defeat Marco The Phoenix

The former First Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Marco is one of the most powerful pirates in the story, strong enough to be recognized by the Gorosei alongside the Yonko themselves. He was powerful enough to hold both King and Queen at bay during the Onigashima war, which shows that he's stronger than the average Yonko right-hand man. A person like that is too much even for Yamato to take on.

2 CAN BEAT: Yamato Can Defeat The Straw Hat Navigator Nami With Ease

Nami is the brilliant navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates but in terms of power, she isn't all that strong. Often considered to be one of the weakest members of the crew, Nami struggles against anyone with decent strength, such as Ulti of the Beasts Pirates. Yamato, in comparison, was able to one-shot Ulti and knock her out for a few good minutes with ease, showing he's much stronger than Nami as well.

1 CAN'T: Yamato Can't Defeat The Emperor Red-Haired Shanks

Shanks is the captain of the Red Hair Pirates and an incredibly strong pirate who even Kaido considered to be one of the mightiest to ever exist. Being a Yonko, it is no surprise that Shanks has great control over his Haki, and it goes without saying that he can only be taken on in combat by a handful of other pirates. Yamato, although strong, isn't capable of defeating Shanks.
