Actor Ryan Reynolds gave his fans a tongue-in-cheek warning about the dangers of drinking and texting.
In a video ad posted on YouTube, Reynolds cautions that "dignity and grammar can vanish in an instant," and speaks of "emoji abuse." Reynolds, wearing eyeglasses and casually dressed in a short-sleeved shirt, walks before a pastoral background of clouds. He says, "It's been a long and dark period, but finally a light has started to shine. Bars and restaurants are opening their doors and the distance between us all is finally starting to disappear. But as an owner of both a gin company and a wireless company, I feel a special obligation to say to everyone watching: Please. Don't Aviation and Mint."
Reynolds purchased a stake in Aviation American Gin in 2018 and in Mint Mobile in 2019.
As Reynolds walks along in the clouds, graphics of texts float in the sky behind him. He says, "I know you've been alone for a really long time. I share your enthusiasm for once again wearing pants with no drawstrings and getting out there. But when you Aviation and Mint, it never goes well. Dignity and grammar can vanish in an instant. Emoji abuse spreads unchecked. And for some reason, too many DMs are accidentally sent to the wrong person." He points out a floating text that reads 'I'm having a bath. Wanna join?' with three eggplant emojis, and notes his mother sent it to his brother "after just half a gin and tonic. True story. Don't let this happen to you."
Reynolds concludes, "So please, if you get back out there, don't completely lose your [bleep], okay. And never Aviation and Mint."
