The Venom 2 Trailer May Tease Other Maximum Carnage Family Members

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is going to involve a confrontation between the two titular symbiotes, though it's introducing another Spider-Man/Venom character into the mix, as well. Shriek will work alongside Carnage, and a scene in the trailer involving a burning building suggests others on their side.

The two figures seen escaping Ravencroft are possibly Carnage and Shriek, but they could be other associates of Carnage from the comics. While this could be looking too far into things, there's the possibility that Ravencroft will house members of Carnage's circle of influence, building up to a major crossover and an appearance from a certain Wall-Crawler.

The most likely explanation is that one of the escaping figures is Shriek. She was shown earlier in the trailer in some type of distress, as well as possibly being studied while using her powers. The narration given throughout the trailer by Carnage would also suggest the romantic relationship that Shriek and Carnage have in the comics is in the movie, as well. If so, it would make the most sense that Shriek is standing alongside Cletus Kasady as they make their way out of Ravencroft.

One of the figures could possibly be Carrion, another member of the Carnage family seen in Maximum Carnage. Carrion was partnered with Carnage during that storyline, but he had ties to Spider-Man that run quite a bit deeper. The original Carrion was seemingly a failed clone of Professor Miles Warren, making him part of the ever-sprawling Clone Saga. A later version of the character was named Malcolm McBride, who had come into contact with a mysterious substance that made him into a replica of the original Carrion. During Maximum Carnage, Shriek saw herself as a surrogate mother to McBride, but it was an encounter with his real mother that finally allowed Malcolm to break free from the Carrion persona.

The chances of Carrion being there are a bit slim due to his connections to one of the most confusing Spider-Man stories ever, but there is still a chance that it's an altered version of the Malcolm McBride incarnation.

Demogoblin, as his name and visage would suggest, is another Goblin in the same vein as the Green Goblin and Hobgoblin. Also fitting his name, he, unlike his scientific-minded counterparts, is an actual demon. He was expelled from the Hobgoblin after being exercised by Ghost Rider, and went on to enact a personal holy war. He saw most in the world around him as sinners, and enacted a particularly lethal form of "justice" if he saw fit. His teaming up with the other members of the Maximum Carnage Family came to an end when he became fed up with their feuding.

Demogoblin is one of the least popular Goblins among the Spider-Man fandom, with his outright supernatural origins fitting in better with the aforementioned Ghost Rider, as well as occasional sparring partners Blade and Moon Knight.

Perhaps the biggest jawdropper would be for one of the figures to be the Spider-Man Doppelganger. Doppelganger was a dark mirror of Spider-Man that was fought in The Infinity War and eventually revived by Demogoblin. The mindless beast was a vicious animal in personality, with his penchant for violence being backed up by powers and abilities even greater than Spider-Man's.

He was brought in by Demogoblin during Maximum Carnage and treated as a wild pet of sorts for the Carnage Family. His resemblance to Spider-Man is uncanny, and would likely involve some concrete connection to the Webslinger if he's actually part of the film. The multiverse does open up some possibilities, however, making this more than likely. It would also be one heck of a stinger to leave audiences on, revealing that one of the escapees from Ravencroft is an evil version of Spider-Man. Though this all hinges on future, more blatant collaboration between Sony and Marvel Studios, that could be exactly the thing that both companies are building up to.
